I'm paying for a LAN connection because I'm in a dormitory. It's supposed to be 24hrs operation but it regularly gets dc (like, approximately 2hrs everyday). What could possibly be the reason for this?

Possibly out of date network card drivers.
Crap installation / cabling?

I just bought the LAN card and had the internet installed last month. My computer was bought last January so all is up-to-date.
I'll ask the technicians about this. Thanks Yoda. :)

Not for LAN cards - they are'nt exactly the hottest thing in the market ;)
BTW is only your internet connection getting disconnected? It could be the case of your ISP...

Sorry :)
LAN disconnection as in you can't connect to the internet I think...in which case it could be the fault of your ISP ie internet service provider- the place to which you connect to access the internet. The place where you enrolled for an internet connection.
If it means you can't connect to ANY computer over the network then you have to make sure the PC which you are trying to connect to is on :)
If you are sure of that then it is more than likely the problem of your LAN card/cable.....
Hope I made some sense...

I found out the problem. Some girls were messing up with the HUB and were actually stealing my network connection. Thanks people!
