Hey, I was just skimming through the topics, and realized that this site has no section for fencing! I'm an avid fencer, and I believe it is most definitely considered a martial art, albiet one that focuses on a weapon. It would be really cool if you guys could add a section for fencing.

I know Yodas into his fencing he done an article on it in the MAP articles section check that out.
Theres also a weapons section in the forum list that would cater for fencing. If your not happy with that keep shoutin for a fencing section and you might have your wish granted.:)

Hello...
I would like to see MAP encompass the Western Martial Art community as well as Asian & mixed MA...
I only came across a post in the MAP's weapons forum by accident, and am now cross-training with a fellow contributer in Glasgow.
I think it would be beneficial to introduce a whole new Forum area for the European arts, which includes swordplay, fist-fighting & grappling...

Yes, but 'boxing' in the 1700's has probably more in common with sword & buckler (shield) techniques than modern sport boxing.
Completely different stances, blocks & punches, which are based on sword-fencing stances, sword blocks and sword attacks.... then there's biting, gouging, throws & kicks...:D

an excellent point. though I'm very interested in history, I do find modern boxing to be much better, however. old style european boxing stances were pretty illogical...
