strange enough i used to work a door in canada where the head man kept a pair of nunchuks in the trunk of his car, and would get them out at the end of the night if he needed to! which seemed pretty frequently! they seemed to work ok in their range but he usually ended up wrestling anyway

It is really sad that people have actually used these weapons in street fighting. Shame on you who have done this.

man the only fights I've seen, and mind you this is coming from complete inexperience, were just wayyyyyy over done (badly done) punches... the only thing other than that were a home made pepper thingie thrown into my friend's face, which really sucked for him... never saw it coming.

Funny little story.
At work one day, some of the guys I worked beside came and told me they'd just confronted someone trying to break into my car.
The guy pulled a set of Nunchakus on them, threatened them and then walked off without incident.
Amusingly, in the trunk of my car were Nunchakus, Eskrima sticks, a Staff, a Baseball Bat and a Rambo knife.
Why am I never there when these things happen? :D

Nunchakus are legal in the UK?
hwarang:
They are legal here aslong as you have a licence. And to get a licence you need to be an instructor, OR they can only be used in class.

Nope, I believe they are ok to carry to and from a place where they may be used (MA facility), so long as they are not immediately accessible.
Like the trunk of your car, or at the bottom of a Kit Bag.
Not sure, just something I read.

Ok, seperate the question from Andy's story.
I didnt ask if people used them, I asked if they were legal.
I thought they were illegal in the UK, I asked for confirmation. I got it. Thankyou Andy.

i dont know why you think it would be bad to use a weapon, if you were on the way to training and a gang tried to rob you, i guess it would be necessary to take out whatever training gear you had with you.

I keep a bat, glove, and ball in my car. I don't play baseball, but the glove and ball help justify the bat.

LOL! :D
That's a good reason to keep a big stick like the baseball bat I suppose :D

I keep a pair of arnis sticks in my car behind the drivers seat, they're "useful" if u get what I mean. Never had to "use" them in the real sense but they are there, waiting...
:D
heck I even use them to haul stuff out of the letterbox.
I carry my ninja stick in the glovebox or in my handbag, and a kobutan.
One can never be too careful these days but mostly I get avoided. Nobody wants to mess with an old lady like me.
:D
Especially one that can make humans into pretzels.....

A friend of mine has a set of Katars, middle blade is mostly used for jabbing attacks, while the two are for catching enemy blades. Quite fun, though I have no idea how to properly use them =/

Hmmm, I actually carry my Bokken with my when I go walking. It's cold here so I'm wearing a long coat which conceals it. If I were to enter a combat situation I'd probably try and scare my opponent off with it, would never use it in a fight though, too damaging.

well when i go places or go for a walk i carry my brass knuckles and my 45 lol no jk but i carry my brass knuckles and a knife i carry them just in case its more then one person some times ill take on two without usin them (depends there size) ive scared away some people with the knife but with the knuckles i put it on my weakest hand and i wont hit in the face with them (too damaging) and if i dont have those for some reason one day a broken beer or soda pop bottle will do :)

Weapon laws are split into OFFENSIVE WEAPONS and PROHIBITED WEAPONS
An offensive weapon is anything that is used or carried to be used as a weapon against somebody - so a baseball bat is an offensive weapon if you are planning to smack someone round the head with it.
Prohibited weapons are illegal to own, make or import into this country (with the exception of some antiques/ religious items) and include amongst others:
knuckle dusters
pushblades (which the blade comes out from your fist)
kobutan
flick knives
those walking sticks which conceal a blade
Butterfly knives (the legal definition does not include the MA variety)
A length of cord or chain with a weight attached to each end wherby the length of the cord exceeds the length of the weight
This last item you will notice does not include nunchuku because of the length of the cord.
HOWEVER- it is technically illegal to own a skipping rope with wooden handles in this country!!!

But carrying around nunchucku with you is hardly likely to be smiled upon should you cross the path of the local bobby
