View Full Version : When and how to train?

Hi, I'd like some advice on when and how to train to support my MA training.

I do an hours Karate (our style is very similar to Kyokushin) on Thurs and Sundays most weeks and I play 5-a-side football for 40min on a Wed lunchtime.

I have two problems:
1) - I dont have a training strategy. If I dont know what I want to achieve, how do I know what I should be doing ? Speed, strength AND flexibility - and a nice 6 pack would be nice........(but maybe we are getting a bit silly now)

2) The only significant free time I have is most Wed and Fri evenings (at home with the kids). The gym is out of the question and other than that I can only snatch 5 or 10 mins here or there during the day. I havent got time for warming up etc.etc.

Equipment -
I have a punchbag in tha garage - though its not heavy - only 20Kg maybe.....
I have got a barbell and some dumbells at the bottom of the bed.

Oh, and diet......I am carrying at least an extra couple of Kg around (I am about 66Kg) but find myself torn between eating to fuel muscle growth and cutting down on the calories to shed the extra weight. (consequently I suspect I am doing neither very well)

Advice and comments much appreciated.....

Decide on a training goal.

You might wanna invest in a power cage and an adjustable bench as well

You seriously can't figure this out on your own? How is your Karate similar to the great Kyokushin.

I have opinions, however...Smart people learn from other people with better knowledge. Hence the question.

Thanks for your input nevertheless.
