hey all...

im thinkin of startin a martial arts, and jeet kune do seems the best choice to pick.

basically one of the reasons i want to learn a martial art is because i recently got into a fight with a stranger who was much larger than me physically....needless to say i lost.

what would u guys recommend for a starter? do u have any tips or anything like that?

also, does anybody know of a jeet kune do dojo in birmingham england? ive tried a google search with no luck:(

thanx all

much appreciated

well don't wanna burst your bubble but don't take JKD as "the savior of your troubles" (ie. don't go thinking that with knowledge of JKD alone will save you in a fight). But if you 're that interested i'll toss out a few names

Dave green (our resident yoda?)

dave carnell

coventry jun fan gung fu academy

thomas carruthers.

if i've left anyone out i'm sure there will be more that come up

Found Dave Carnell hard to chat to, at times he seems uninterested

Rick and Mark Hayes(My instructor) are the most approachable and very giving.

Dan Inosanto as well, but he is on a level all of his own

Did you know that Dave Carnell is profoundly deaf? He wears hearing aids in both ears - as do I. It can make us seem a bit "distant" at times.

Try Wing Chun Gung-Fu or Southern Mantis first to prepare you.

Tim's a pretty cool guy - anyone who can make it won't be sorry.

Tim's great, I think the group he trains with regularly sounds like an interesting environment to learn in. Too bad I dont live out in california.
