I came across these vintage fitness routines, they're a fascinating read if you're at all interested in the history of fitness.

great link. makes interesting reading!

one thing that i noticed was the 'under-developed' chests compared to todays standards. id say this is probably due to the emphasis on lifting things overhead (ie properly ;) )

Also I don't think that large pecs were a desirable asset, the same way that gymbunnies don't want to work the traps or neck because they think it will make there shoulders look less wide. its funny how attitudes change to what looks good. If you look at many of the poses back in the day when they used to suck there stomach in for photo shoots. Now days you just can't get away with that- I always try it on the beach and it never works (I usually pass out before I get to the water). :o

yup. that is my main gripe with bodybuilding. training to look good just doesnt wash with me when you can train for strength and grow at the same time.

Agreed, I have much more admiration on crossfit type people then pure bodybuilders. I am of the belief that you should be an all rounder that is damn strong. :D

If I had a dollar for every hour I've spent reading the books on that site, I'd have...a boatload of dollars. It's truly awesome stuff. You gots to know where you're from, if you wanna know where you're goin'.
