I am interested in silat. Which silat videos would be the most beneficial for an inexperienced martial artist (a novice) like myself? Would it be Victor De Thouars' "Deadly art of pentjak silat-serak" or the pentjak silat videos of Rudy Terlinden? Would either of these videos address the the issues of weapons and of groundfighting?

To be honest I do not believe in learning an MA like PS from a video/DVD. What I would recommend is to find a good teacher. A video or DVD can not show how it feels or give you feedback on what you are doing well and what not and what you can improve, etc.

I have to agree with the big bird. It's something you just can't learn from videos. The best I've seen were references for students who already had a fair amount of experience. Find a teacher rather than wasting your money.

Hi
I would reccommend looking at getting Pendekar Sanders dvds on Silat groundfighting or Indonesian weapons. Its not as good as good as training with a teacher, but they do help to back up the material you are learning from your teacher. Ive sent you a private mail if you like more details.
