I know there's already been a thread on what religion are you. I was just curious to see something more quantified. I'm not really interested on making this thread a religious debate. We have enough of those. I just want to see where everyone's views lie. I hope I don't leave out any major viewpoints.

I ticked Agnostic.....However in my tongue in cheek moments I go for Pastafarianism and the belief that the world was created by a Flying spaghetti Monster.

Yeah, i understand buddhism is philosophy more than religion. it's prominent enough though, and i figure there are plenty of people that follow that philosophy without really having a religion per se.

Well, as I see it, religion is a good way to describe a "way of life", so Buddhism and Taoism fits fine under that. I wouldn't count Athiesm or Agnosticism as religions. I'd say that they are attributes to a religion. So Buddhism will usually be atheist or agnostic while a Christian will be theistic.
I think that scientism would've been a good one to put up. (the belief that science holds all the answers).

I was a very devoted christian until a personal disaster happened to me and my family. I've questioned my faith ever since then. From a christian point of view, I suppose it would be considered a challenge from God that I failed.

I tried the christain faith and it didn't suit me so I went back to what I know and reverted back to witchcraft. I don't have a problem with any christain or any other belief system unless they try and tell me the error of my ways when they are doing the same things in their lives.

I ticked Buddhist as I am that 'officially'. Not keen on 'ists' and 'isms' tbh as I also practise natural 'Taoism' and 'shamanic' stuff in my daily life. Labels are confusing at the best of times imo
I strongly disagree that Buddhism is a philosophy rather than a religion tho. This is a popular misconception and urban myth... Religion referring to a daily discipline of spirituality and/or existential reference through practice, then Buddhism is probably more religious than Christianity!

Athiesm actually comes from the greek word theism meaning diety or doctrine, the a-infront of the word theism means without, so the true translation of the word atheism is really without God - so people claiming to be athiests are just saying they are without God which still doesnt deny deity or God completely - this kinda made me laugh when I found this out.
I beleive Christianity religion has the finger prints of man all over it but has come from a true source, the bible has proved 100% accuracy in every single prophecy which has been fulfilled, which was backed up when they found the dead sea scrolls proving that the scriptures couldnt have been forged.
The problem these days is that the majority has turned it into a joke, holy rolling, screaming, hollering, speaking in tongues, casting out demons, using music to get people pumped up - this to me is all rubbish, getting people to think with their emotions and take their money.
But all these things are direct contridictions to what the bible says - emotions cant think, emotions react to thought, the only thing we are instructed to do is grow in his grace and knowledge, gain wisdom and understanding.
I tried to look past all of this facade and found something a lot more interesting... doctrine.
I do beleive the bible to be true, and really enjoy learning more and more about what was written, and study from the original languages to ensure the most accurate translations, most of what I find out completely blows me away because of its accuracy and truth.
Anyways am not trying to convert anyone and didnt intent to offend anyone either, just thought it would be cool to share my views and journey so far.

Measure the quality of a religion by its own tally of the dead, maimed and tortured. Just open any holy book and start counting. All forms of monotheism top the list. Islam comes out on top only by virtue of its claiming the Bible as a base statstic and adding on from there.

The above link is enlightening, I should think, for any who might invite me to leave the country for not being christian. The very author of the US Constitution was rabidly anti-organized-religion and opposed any encroachment of religiosity into US government. And James Madison took his cue from Thomas Jefferson, who was much in agreement with John Adams. And Washington was much chastised in his time for his continued refusal to take communion.

Interesting site aplonis but it has to be wrong, how could the Church hold the world was flat when about 300 years before Jesus, a Greek calculated the circumference?
Despite their lack of faith in current religions, most Founding Fathers still believed in God.
As for the poll, I would put catholic but i don't think Jesus was the son of God, so I'll put Islam.
