This is along the same lines as the other Testing thread.
How long do your class testings last for and what does your instructor usually make you do?

God is no one gonna reply to this thread. U E will be getting a complex lol. Our tests usually last 3-4 hours in that we do forms four directions with cicuits between forms. kicking punching combinations etc with cicuits between those. Meditation breathing exercises weapons then we do techniques with take downs sometimes all of them sometimes just some then speed train them too it varies really but we try to cover the whole syllabus. :) depends what mood we're in really lol.

Please excuse the monks dodgy typing. I think he meant circuits? He must be typing while watching Girls Aloud videos.
Give the poor guy a break!

Physical torture of an exercise nature. I.e 50 push ups 50 leg raises 50 dips 50 squats start next form. then change circuit for next form maybe do a kicking routine between forms of jump kicks say...etc etc etc maybe get people sparring between forms
so your body gets used to doing one thing one pace then straight away has to switch into a different mode to do something else. :)

Our tests (adult tests, I can't comment on the kids tests) tend to run about 2 hours, but the time can vary.
The content of the tests can certainly vary, depending on who is running the test and how much pain they feel like inflicting. :D A general outline of the tests tends to be soo ki, johk sool, hyung, techniques, breaking. Sometimes we'll do nak bup, I had a test where we did the 15 bong do li ki, usually there's copious amounts of push ups, sit ups, knee bends, and so on.
And how the test content is performed will vary. Maybe we'll just do basic soo ki because they want to spend more time on other things. Or maybe we'll do all sorts of advanced johk sool because they really want to tire us out. Hyung might have 4 directions, or from bahng uh jah sae, taking Ki Cho Hyung and mixing it up (e.g. 4, 2, 5, 6, 1, 3). Techinques might have falling or might not (only time I've not done falling at a test is at Houston testing because of the sheer number of people and lack of mats). Techniques usually aren't "everything" tho... proctor will usually call out a random number from the set and you end up doing about half the set's techniques (matter of time).
In general they always work us out physically. Some proctors will work more of the mental game, trying to break us mentally, confuse us, throw us off. I like the tests where it's both physical and mental because it really takes everything to make it through the test... you have to remain focused, you have to put those "on god make it stop" thoughts out of your head, you have to keep trying and push yourself further than you thought you were capable of doing.

Is the question posed about gup testing or dan testing?

Both, although maybe we shouldn't scare the under black belts....I say we leave them the pleasure of not knowing what to expect once they get to BB.
This is open to all testings, Gup and Dan.

Gup tests about 45 - 60 min. for kids, a little longer for adults. BB tests are 2-2.5 hrs non stop. I know they are not very long but I like them short , intense and to the point then be done. Gups only test over rank skills, since dbn, jkn, ksn take multiple tests then each test covers only 2 topics...i.e. hyung and kicking, or nak bub and tech, or weapons and sparring etc...

I quite like the idea of the 2 topic per testing. Never heard of anyone ever doing that before.
Do you tell your students in advance of what you will be testing them on or wait until the night?

Being a gup, I can testify that my testing generally covers mom pul ki, ki cho ja ki, four direction hyung, nak bup/acrobatics and techniques up through rank and circuits as well. Generally, they try to break us down physically before we get to techniques. Testing lasts anywhere between 1.5-2 hours, depending on rank.

We use that for DBn and BB testing because there is too much curriculum to do in a single test and since they are going to test many times then this allows us to really focus on the quality of certain skills. There is no reason to not tell them in advance. It's hard enough, that would make it even harder. Another approach is to tell them about 1 topic and let the second be a surprise.

i quite like that idea, and think i will use it in my next dbn testing in march. although i wont tell them which two subjects they will be tested on as i want them to be fully prepared to test on any subject.
thanks for a new idea, i'll let you all know how i turns out.
