Does anyone know if any of the Indian Tribes native to America, Canada, or Central America ever developed a martial art system or a defence system that was taught amongst the tribe or tribes?
Seeing how the knife was a common weapon, along with a hand axe, it seems that were would be some defence taught against these.
I know the different tribes would sometimes bring war against each other, so it would seem that some style of fighting would develop.
I have looked for info about this on the web and have turned up nothing (maybe because no system exists). If anyone has any info I would be in your debt.
Take care,
WG

There were historically strikes taught with the knife and hand axe, as well as the war club and of course archery, as well as wrestling. But there was never a specific "system" so to speak. Some people still practice the techniques of throwing, etc. But you can find that most anywhere.

The only thing I have in the Yodarchive is a guy calld Blaise Loong.
Whilst he does come across as a little "strange" as you'll see from his website - I've also heard many good things about him.

Isn't there some form of wrestling called Indian wrestling, or does that refer to the sort of indians that Cain and TkdWarrior are?
I also saw in a western film (little big man) that native americans had no clue about how to fight unarmed, as they were always armed and didn't need it.

Don't pay attention to movies. They are not shown from our point of view.
