What exercises will thin out the face the quickest? My face is kinda round, so I'd like a thinner face. What areas should I focus on?

try clipping clothespins onto your cheeks just below your eyes and hanging small objects off of them, then alternate between smiling and frowning. like shrugs, but with your face. high reps for toning, of course.

That was just stupid.

All I'm asking is should I do more running, should I start bench-pressing, should I focus on abdominals, etc.?

it doesn't help that you've given practically no information. i guess i can just tell you to lift weights, eat clean, and do plenty of cardio...but i liked my other answer better, to be honest.

I'm pretty sure the only way your face will get thinner is from a lower body fat percentage.

what are you currently doing as far as working out, what are you eating, how much do you weigh/how tall are you, things like that.

I'm 5'10, around 145 lbs. I have a pretty unstable diet. Some days I'll just have a beverage for breakfast and lunch, while other days I'll stuff my face. My dinners are usually well-rounded. I haven't gotten around to working out much lately. My flexability is pretty good, and I do a lot of running, jogging, hiking, etc.

Maybe you could focus on not being so skinny. Then your face wouldn't look fat anymore.

Seriously Agu, what the hell. I couldn't have given worse advice if I tried. Everyone knows cocaine is far too expensive to be used simply for facial fat loss.

Just do cardio - when most people lose weight, it shows first in their face. But keep in mind certain face-shapes [round, or one without prominent cheekbones] can only thin out so much.

Also, how old are you? Some people don't lose baby fat until they're in their 20s.

shaolin, why don’t you post a pic of your face, maybe then you'll get more concrete answer....

HA ur a lightweight!!! im like 5'7-5'8 and 165lbs. i suggest you do alot of cardio. Eat right - i gave up coke -sodas in general- and that works well. Of course it doesnt hurt to have it once in a while. Eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 2-3 larger meals. This helps your body digest much more efficiently. Have a regular eating and excersise schedule.. usually the first few weeks are the hardest but then you get used to it - it helps a lot more if you have a friend with you. Drink plenty of water. Do light weights but do larger sets.. this way you tone your muscles and get a cardio as well - heavy weights will make you bigger but if you dont you do light weights you wont have any definition. Swim alot if you can. Give it a couple months and you will definately see the different not only on your face ..but your whole body. Hope this helps - good luck. :D

what i want to know is why everyone's giving him advice on how to lose weight. he's 145 at 5'10 for god's sake. sure he might get a thinner face, but he'll also end up looking like an emaciated skeleton.

There are some yoga exercises designed specifically to tone and shape the face and neck. I can't guarantee that they'll make your cheeks thinner, but it may be worth a shot. Barbara Currie's 'Total Body Plan' features a short section devoted to the face, but I haven't seen the DVD, so I can't say whether it's any good (though generally her programs are pretty decent) nor can I tell if it's relevant to your problem.

To be honest, your face probably isn't fat at all. And if it is, well, chubby cheeks are cute!

I'm grateful for their advice. Eating right, doing cardio, lifting weights, and practising yoga aren't unhealthy, you know.

If you are of asian /yellow race descent then chances are your face is naturally round to an extent. Otherwise, to cut down a moonie face do what you would do to loose fat normally

you're right, doing those things isn't necessarily unhealthy. however, trying to lose weight at your current weight probably is. if by "eating right" you mean eating a truckload of healthy food every day, then you're on track. if you mean eating less than you already are, then i seriously doubt you'll be pleased with the results.

and no, you can't "tone" your face with yoga exercises. that's just ridiculous.

TONE. You DID NOT just say the T word!

You cannot "tone" your muscles.

Use heavy weights to build muscle, and cardio to lose fat so that you have definition.

Odd. My dictionary defines 'tone' - among other things - as:

To make firmer or stronger.

I realise the dictionary is not a health manual, but under the definition provided, I think 'tone' is being used in the correct context here.

With that in mind, why is it ridiculous to suggest that the face can be toned by practising yoga? Many of the senior practitioners I know look much younger than others of their age, both in their body, and in their faces, the skin of which seems surprisingly firm.

Is there a more specific health and fitness term for this effect which renders use of the word 'tone' obsolete?

Woah. I've been wasting all this time reading health books when I could of just read one word from the dictionary.

You cannot make a muscle more "defined/toned" by lifting smalll weights for many repitions. The muscle doesnt just change shape because the volume of weight is lower. Muscles either get bigger or they get smaller. They dont get "harder" they dont get more "defined" they dont get more "cut". Cutting means reducing your bodyfat %.
