I just bought it. The whole nine yards. Refers to itself as 'a trilogy in five parts'. Any time you want a quote, just ask

I found my copy long ago in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard.'

Big fan of this. I managed to get a copy from the library for about £1.50 which was the trilogy in 4 parts. I then bought Mostly Harmless when that came out. Haven't got Salmon of Doubt though, and only read the first Dirk Gently book.

I have his books - 7 of them :p

I also have the 8 CD set that includes both BBC Radio versions and a "making of" Set.

Here I am, brain the size of a planet, and they expect me to moderate a forum!

I have got Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, but not got or read Long Dark Tea Time Of the Soul, Salmon of Doubt and the Meaning Of Liff. Think they are the only 3 that I am missing.

I knew he had done a few Doctor Who episodes, but I never knew he had done Doctor Snuggles until recently.

Smiths of Wigan have "Salmon of Doubt" for £3.99 at the moment - it's well worth getting - it's brilliant!

I just finished the 5 book series (not Dirk), got it as a complete volume set for $20 Canadian.

Good book, although it can be at times quite confusing.

Normally I find that if I like a book, I'll hate the TV adaptation/film etc., but in this case I love the books, TV show and radio series in equal measure :D

Am I right in thinking the radio series was actually written before the first book?

I heared that before he died Douglas Adams had moved to Hollywood and was working on the film script for Disney.

Yeah, Disney were supposed to be doing an adaption. There is a funny letter in Salmon of Doubt (thanks Yoda - doh! not WH Smiths then) when he was writing to arrange a meeting and gives about 30 different contact numbers!!!

Is Disney to get their hands on HGTTG? Oh god, please no, I don't want such a great madcap novel to be turned into more Timon & Pumba garbage from the McDojo of cartoon companies!

Don't know if they are still doing it, but there was also a live action movie being bandied around (may have been one and the same thing).

I've not read Salmon of Doubt but I have most of the others except the Meaning of Liff. The only thing I remember from that book was "botafugal" defined as an unflushable curly turd in the toilet bowl.

Doctor Snuggles rocks cos he's a friend of the animal world ;) The lavender sheep living in the clouds were my favourites.

I've reread So Long as recently as June and also Dirk Gently's HDA aftwerwards.

I do get tired of the humour sometimes and skip to my favourite bits to get my kicks.

Any second hand bookshop/stall will have one or more of these books except for Salmon.

rgds,
David

There's a simply awful movie of it, but I got the radio series in mp3 :D It's darn nifty. Great books.
