Four basic types of fighter which one are you?

1. tHE CHARGER-rushes full force over and over forcing the opponent to fight or flee.
2. THE BLOCKER- stays in position and waits to be attacked.
3.THE BACKWARD RUNNER-retreats everytime you move toward them.\
4THE ELUSIVE RUNNER-retreatts or moves left/right when you step toward them.

I used to be a blocker, I'd sit back and wait and chase them at the wrong time. Now I'm more of a charger, it works well so far.

i'm a person who stand there ground an waits for a moment to attack a kinda mix between a charger and a blocker

Definitely a charger.

I tend to be a blocker if you will as i like to wait for for my attacker to act before reacting by either evading, countering or evading and countering.
but when that doesnt work I like to charge in.
So I guess i'm alittle of all them

I am an "elusive runner".... but I am a little bit of everything too.

Depends on the fight situation and the type of opponent I'm up against. .... but consider me a "charger"..... C H A R G E!!!

trying to be a combination of evader and charger.

I would have to say a thinker, as I tend to switch between the four several times in a fight depending on my judging of the opponents skills and power. For instance, I wouldn't want to charge Bob Sapp.

Need more practice on the thinking part though :D

I am a charger as much by default as anything else. We tend to spar in very short rounds and having only been training for a short while the others at my level tend to be backwards runners so just so that some punches get thrown I charge.

I am a bit of everything when up against someone decent, but a cahrger at heart; and if I happen to take a few hits on the way in so be it.

depends on the guy really. But, all else being equal, CHARGE!! Get in there and get the job done!

Have to agree with the other how posted this, i'm all four.

Will fight all 4 till i find the one my opponent deals with least well then use it against them.

I see it as a game of chess and look to probe defences and exploit weaknesses, not to solely concentrate on my own game.

I'd like to think I'm completely adaptive - switching between all 4 of the options you've said depending on circumstances. My natural inclanation, and preference is definitely to be a charger. I'm quite tall and I've got lots of reach so I tend to be aggressive :)

heh, at the moment I'm a backward runner, normally into a corner.

Reactionary and highly adaptive to the situation. If the other guy is stronger, I'll wait and bide my time. Otherwise - I'll pick him off from a distance. I suppose this is a combination of elusive runner and block.

I'm learning a new way of fighting: Waiting for a window/door of opportunity and then attacking. As they attack, I'm supposed to block, counterattack and kill - all in one move!

Blocker usually. But if I am fighting another blocker, I will become a charger. I prefer to sit back and wait for the opponent to make a mistake though.

I haven't been in enough fights to really be able to say. My style would be a blocker though, but loser is also prob more apt for me too.

Im a blocker most of the time but if some one breaks my defense and i get hit then i'll charge.

With someone who really wanted to hurt me, I'd be an emphatic backwards runner. In practice, I'm an equal mix of block and charge, and hope someday to get a feel for elusive running, although I haven't lived near a pa kua teacher yet.

hmm. Its funny. When I first started out I would "forget" that i could hit back because I am such a mello and calm person. I remember there was one day where my instructor told me that I used about 4 advanced defensive techniques BUT YOU NEVER THREW BACK. Lol. I am improving on the attack though. After training with guys that have about 15-30 years experience on you every sat. you learn that you have to hit back. :D But, of course it has started to depend more and more on my opponent.

I like to sit and block. I practice wtf-style tkd and most kicks are aimed at the kidneys. At least, thats where the goal is. So what I do is I wait until my opponent has attacked me several times and always block with my elbow on the top of his foot. Since most people I meet are poorly conditioned there, because of training with shoes and cushions, they start to think twice before attacking. Thats when I turn into a charger.

So far, I've never won a tournament fight (I've competed twice...) but it works better in practice. Mostly because of less stress.

Im the fighter who lets you beat on me for an hour, laughs at you, then puts you into your grave. If not that, I am a charger. I am totally not a blocker.

It depends on the situation - if my opponent is more agressive - I tend to block more but concentrate on attacking by kicking to the legs. If they are more timid - I will charge more using punches. Mind you - I find blocking very satisfying - nothing better than seeing your reflexes in action

Most often I don't get the choice as I train with partners who have superior skills.

All of the above when the choice is my own.

I want to be one that contantly eludes or blocks attacks, and use an attack if I most have to. I think its much more fun to turn down attacks and just have the attacker realize a no no has been made, maybe the attacker will learn in the future to be wary of much less tempered people who may be trained as well.

I'm the elusive runner. I wait for someone to commit to a move, sidestep, then go for a very quick strike to the [insert vulnerable point here]. My friend is the same thing, which ends up being quite amusing since we'd sometimes do nothing but circle each other in anticipation for about half an hour :-P

Guerilla Fists

mostly charger with hints of elusive. never blocker or backwards runner unless getting jumped then I become blocker seventy percent and charger thirty percent. No defense like a strong offense!

backward runner... but I am working on it...

However... it also depends on who I have the opportunity to hit :D

I used to be a charger but now I am a blocker. At first I used to be super aggressive and just charge in. Now I am much more patient and wait for my opportunities. Rather funny when I spar one particular guy in the dojo, he is a blocker too and we both circle eachother waiting for the other to throw the first punch or kick. My sensei's have really spent the time to explain the physics of a smaller person fighting larger people and taught me the in and outs of non-linear movement. I was terrible for straight in , straight out. Now I have a much better grasp of circular movement and parrying as well as hard blocks. Definitely a blocker now.

Sparring - Blocker

Other - Charger

I'm learning to be to able to switch accordingly though.

I'm going to say blocker because that's the option you gave that closest defines what I do. I would term myself as a counterattacker though. The second his attack hits it's apex of upward or downward movement I'm in there catching him when he's off balance. That is my preferred style, however, when I'm at a tournament with timed rounds I'm forced to be the attacker. Both work pretty well for me though, I can back that with a 3 to 1 ratio of gold medals to silver or bronze. :D

I'll have to say that the kind of fighter I would be is probably a blocker but I'll charge in and strike if the opponents open. :)

Im surprised to see many blockers, I think blocking is safer but you have to quick and a little confident that you wont get hit becuase your just standing there. Im an elusive runner mostly and a little of a charger. Im just applying this to my sparring style since i havnt really been in a fight since 6th grade.
