Is this a good item for sore muscles and everyday aches and pains? Red or White? Best place to buy?

Thanks

I figured you'd get some better responses from the folks here in Traditional Healing.

I'm not too familiar with it, but whenever I did use it in the past, I believe it was the red. I picked it up at the local GNC vitamin store. It was alright for soreness, even though just putting it on wasn't too fun.

it is very good to use. i use it quite often especially after a long workout or a long day at work and being sore. Red is extra strength best on sprains and white is just regular just best for soreness. I buy mine at Sams Club cause they have good deals on it there. Or your local pharmacy should have it.

I've used Tiger Balm in the past, but I have to say, I much prefer Cryogel (http://www.cryogel.tv/) - it really is good stuff

You can find it just about anywhere now. I usually use the red one, but it used to be white, so go figure. Basically, it is supposed to increase the blood flow to the area its applied to, so make sure you don't apply it to bruises or swelling as it could increase the problem, you are better off elevating the area and applying a cold pack. But it works well on sprains and aches.

I could tell you about even worse places than the nose, but not without violating the TOS, so you'll just have to use your imagination! :o

I get pains in the knuckles of my big toes, which makes things like kicking pads rather painful. I find Tiger Balm very effective for preventing this.

You can find Tiger Balm almost anywhere--I get it cheapest at my local WalMart. It is a topical pain reliever. It contains menthol and camphor, the active ingredients in many topical treatments for sore muscles (including my personal favorite: BioFreeze, which is available in a concentrated roll-on, and doesn't smell nearly as bad!).

Other than BioFreeze, another good product is IcyHot, which also contains menthol. However, it also is 30% methyl salicylate, which is a first-cousin of aspirin and is absorbed into your skin. If you are allergic to aspirin, DO NOT use IcyHot.

There is also a product called "Zheng-Gu-Shi"..It's a dark brown liquid that I think is just a tad stronger than Tigers Balm and because of it's liquid form it is easier to apply..

My physio uses the white one, and massages with it - mixed with a light oil. Works pretty well.

I have 2 one is white made by Olic in Thailand, I think it is called Eng Aun Tong (but that might mean anything) this came from Thailand and is really good, why is it sometimes hot and sometimes cold?

I have another which is red called Wild Tiger Balm bought from the local supermarket and doesn't seem to do anything much, beware of cheap imitations!

Actually, in my experience, it works wonders on bruises. Clears 'em up in no time :)

Never put it anywhere near your genitalia. It's probably one of the most horrible feeling known to man (feeling your balls cook from the inside out).

Tiger Balm is awesome, I have two 18g jars of Ultra strength- one for my training bag and one for home. It helped a BUNCH when I sprained my ankle and when I first messed my knee up (still thinking it was a sprain.)

The only problem I've got with it is the smell... it's like Vicks Vapo Rub and Chapstik combined... blleeehh >..<

random question of curiosity: how many types of Tiger Balm are there? I mean for the mostpart everyone here is saying it's either white or red, but I've got what I've heard to be clear... and apparently the most powerful one...
hm. just a random blurb i guess.

Yes. I'm familiar with studies on arnica. But I also take advil which has been linked to many deaths every year. There are very few herbs, medicines, and homeopathics are without side-effects of some sort or another. I just kinda' like my homeopathic remedies. :)

Im pretty sure there are only 2 types of Tiger Balm, red or white, with red being the hottest. The only problem I have had is the red one has a tendency to stain your clothes, but over all is a good product, I use it all the time.

There are i beleive four types Red, White, Clear, and Green. Not really anyone stronger but certain ones fell hotter. I have seen an orange colored one to.

Well somone else can tell you what is in the stuff but only for what i use it works on surface of muscle it will not give a good felling to like a torn muscle.

At least for my torn muscle i had once it did not work to relieve it maybe because i tore it so bad there was blood under the skin like a bruse but worse. Tiger balm did nothing but make it hot an which added to the discomfort.

It's the names of the brothers who invented it I think.
