View Full Version : Recovering from a Sprained Ankle
The Walker

I recently spranged my ankle very badly, about 4 months ago. I'm fine and I can walk, I don't even have a limp. My problem is when I begin to put stress on it from running, all of my tendons (i believe it's the tendons) become very sore and weak. It's really irratating and I'm just looking for a good reccomended balm or anything really that will help ease that irratablility, so I can build up those tendons back to their fullest!
Thanks! :D

hi there
sounds like you have tendonitus which is swelling to the tendon causing sraring to the sheath.
there is no cream that you can use, finger friction will help break down the scraring.and in turn fersilatate movement, use rice method. :D

Just for some different advice to confuse you. I agree with the massage to break down the possible adhesion. However, I think "creams" can help. You want topical things to move the "Qi and Blood". These are warming stimulating type things. Warming gels, etc. I strongly disagree against RICE unless this is an acute injury, which obviously it isnt. Cold will just further promote adhesion. Cold contracts, esp the muslces and vessels. You really need to start applying heat.
"Liu Wei Di Huang Wan" is a good formula, but dont use this if you have any digestive weakness such as Diehhrea or any other major illness going on. It tonifys the Kidneys and Liver, which in TCM control the bones and tendons. See if you can dig up some more info before you try or go see a TCM herbalist (I dont reccomend any one take anything without seeing a professional first) . It can be used for later stage injuries that all the major signs and symptpms have passed except muscle, bone, and tendon weakness. Its a pretty popular formula.

hi there Mach5 kel on reflection i would still use rice, about 30 / 40 minutes after having friction for tendonitus.
a combinaion of hot and cold treament is highly recommend, and the walker could use there local swimming pool to help maintain there cv with the use of water training this would be done with a aqua belt,so walker would be running in the water this has many benifits 1 massaging effect on the hole body and 2 will help with movement of the injured limb and 3 cv with out impact to the injury.your info is very interesting and i will look this up.
