I am looking at a local Hapkido school and was wondering if anybody has had experience here or can fill me in about the teacher etc. I want to know whatever I can about this place (IE: quality, history, etc). Thanks in advance lads and lasses.
Young's Martial Arts
14 Parramatta Road
Homebush Sydney NSW 2140
Head Master is Ryoo-Young Seol
Another master is Young-Kil Kim
Linked with The korea hapkido federation
They were 2000 Sydney Olympic Games Demonstration Team and 2000 UTS Hapkido Master Instructors, apparently. (I think they have TKD to their credit also, which might explain the olymics)

Do you know who the head instructor is or who they are affiliated with?

I don't know if you have been to many TKD tournaments, but at the demonstrations held durring the intermission they always have a demo with breaking and self defense, with the self defense techniques usually being hapkido.

I have not heard of the school or instructor (that in itself doesn't mean much as I live in Victoria). There are a few different Korea Hapkido Federations, but given they performed at the 2000 Olympics may be a sign of a decent reputation. All I can say is to go and try a few classes, chat to the other students on how the feel about the training, instructor, etc. If it feels good, go with it. If not, don't. Either way, good luck.
