set regular times to do it, work on your concentration. I used to have a book on it that was quite good. I think it was "Concentration and Meditation: Manual of Mind Development " by Christmas Humphreys from a quick look about the net. I'll get back ot you on the book.

Hello Master J. :)

Falling asleep during meditation is quite common for the beginner, because one is not used to entering such states of relaxation whilst maintaining awareness and feeling awake. Relaxation is normally associated with sleep.

The first thing you'll have to do is keep meditating and keep falling asleep. If you notice yourself feeling really drowsy, go and splash your face in cold water and come back to it.

Secondly, make sure you are not meditating on your bed. Your mind has an intimate connection with your bed as this sacred place of sleep.. trying to sit on it, this will take over and you'll probably want to sleep. Sit on a floor.

Very important is the lighting. If its too dark, you will drift off. If its too light, you may have troubles relaxing. Try and reach a comfortable, dim comprimise.
