I just felt like bragging a bit because I'm bored. It's been a year or so since I've tried any difficult breaking technique, so I thought I'd jump in and try a difficult one at the end of class on Tuesday. Once upon a time I was able to do a speed break with a low spin kick, and sure enought I'm still able to pull it off. There's little more satisfying than hearing that CRACK as the board splinters and flys apart. At least that's the case for those of us into TMA's that like the whole breaking part of training.

Congrats! ^__^ Low spin kicks are very difficult for me!

I broke a board with a side kick once... and tried with a hook but no success! XD breaking kind of scares me but i guess its all about precision and mind over matter! ^.^'

FYI...Check out the November 2005 issue of BlackBelt magazine and you will see an article about low spin kicks...featuring two KSW practioners! It had some good tips on teaching the low spin kick that you could use in your classes.

Yeah KJN Middleton wrote the article and the article features two of his students. I know I need more practice on my low spin kicks! :D

KJN Middleton is actually my instructor now. His Low Spin Kicks are incredibly fast. I have a lot of work to do on mine after watching his.

Congrats on the break KSWPaul. My favorite way to practice for low spin kicks is the spinning punch combo(see book 1) done as a squat. You hold your knife hand out and balance there for just a second before coming back up. Neither hand touches the floor during the exercise. Give it a shot if you haven't tried it before, it's fun.

I just got the issue of Black Belt. It's a good article with a lot of good tips. Sarah (the student performing the kick) is really good. She's one of the students I train with. Now I really want to go to class and start training. Unfortunatly KJN and the other instructors are all in Korea right now without me

But on the bright side, you get more room to train.

hehe, My low spinKicks need a lot of work. Congrats on the break.

... now if you manage to do the "thumb" break (it looks like a speed break using only your thumb and a "reverse knifehand", arm motion) in Grandmaster's mini book on Breaking, I'll be really impressed.

I just don't have the balls to try it
