I was at a Kung Fu tournment watching a friend compete and there were a lot a weapons for sale. ( I limited myself to only buying 2 knifes( a Tonto and a cylone-link above)).
I have been playing with the cylone and felling it
feels like a Shuriken and have be using for Shuriken-jutsu type fighting. I am more talking about Shuriken in hand techniques and not throwing technquies.
I don't think we have talked about Shuriken-jutsu at all on this forum and we are a Ninjutsu forum Right? (Well, obvously will all the x-kans debates)
Let hear some input on Shuriken-jutsu!

I love how all we been doing the past 2 weeks is arguing about the X-kans. I been guilty of this just all much as the other ninpo practioners.
We haven't talked training techniques for a long time! If Elements kata or Shuriken-jutsu doesn't catch anyone's attention (I think I only have had 1 post)
choose one!!!!
Shinobi-jutsu (Stealth Arts)
Happo Tai-jutsu (Empty Handed Arts)
Hiken-jutsu (Bladed Arts)
Jutte-jutsu (Iron Rod Arts)
Bo-jutsu (Staff Arts)
Yari-jutsu (Spear Arts)
Naginata-jutsu(Halberd Arts)
Kasari Fundo-jutsu(Weight Chain Arts), Kusari Gama-jutsu(Kama w/ Weighted Chain Arts)
Shuriken-jutsu(Throwing Weapons arts)

Don't you mean Shaken?
Shuriken, despite what you read in the comics & ad on the back of MA mags - are straight metal darts.
Throwing stars / discs are Shaken - or sometimes "hira shuriken"

Actaully they are both. Or at least that was I have learned. That Shuriken can actually be either a flat piece of metal with 4 points or a straight rod with either 1 or both ends pointed. I know both are cover in Shuriken-Jutsu.
I found the 4 names
bo-shuriken : rod with one or two sharp ends
hira shuriken: a four-pointed throwing blade
happa shuriken: a eight-pointed throwing blade.
taken shuriken : flat bar with one or two sharp ends.
All are considered shuriken
by Throwing Stars arts I mean any of these four weapons I edited the post to say Throwing Weapons. Thanks Yoda for keeping me honest.

LOL checked the link out it looks like the weapon off the film Krull from the late 70's early 80's from what I can remember.
Sorry for derailing the topic but thats what sprung to mind when I saw it. How does it handle?

Now these are great as if you have a decent metal one many of your Kubotan techniques will work with them.
Not all but many and they make a great substitute for the Bo Shurikiens.

Funny, because unless you're saying Steven Hayes is wrong, Shuriken are also throwing stars (which are flat).. Check: "NINJUTSU, The Art of the Invisible Warrior" page 51.

Japanese dart
alternative words: Shuriken, Shuri ken, dart, dark
keywords: ninja , weapon
related topics: Ninja
explanation: Favorite weapon of Ninja because it allows to surprisingly attack an adversary without making any sound which might attract more enemies. There existed different forms of dart but the most famous one is "Juji shuriken" i.e. "cross form dart" or "star form dart" which rotates during flying course. It allows to aim more precisely the adversary thanks to its symmetry.

Japanese Dictionary....stars and darts both are shuirken
