Hi! I am new to the boards!! I am curious if there is any Private instruction out there, (here!) in Central NJ in Kenpo/Kempo. My son is a recent young Black Belt. He is VERY dedicated to the martial arts, but the Dojo we are associated with is spiraling downwards fast!! Help!?!?

Hi and Welcome to MAP,
Might I suggest looking in your yellow pages directory for other area schools of Kempo/Kendo instruction.... as I see you are looking specifically for private instruction they may possibly offer that also or at best, will offer some contacts for you.
Sorry to hear of the present state of your current dojo. Would any of the current instructors offer instruction.... possibly a BB student your son can still continue training with?
How about yourself? Do you also train?
I checked some online dojo directories and came up with zero ... sorry!Dojo Directory Yellow Pages (http://www.martialartscity.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/classifieds.cgi)
and Martial Search.com (http://www.martialinfo.com/search/default.asp)

Thanks for the reply KickChick! No, I dont train, but have learned lots. There is a definate lack of anything spiritual where we are; altho as you mentioned, there is a BB and 1 instructor who far surpass the master. Interesting huh? :)

I am a kempo stylist in central NJ, I have been training for over 15 years and would like to help. Private instruction has limitations when it comes to training mostly with the drills and sparring.
It would help to know what town your school is in the name is not needed unless you would like to include it. I do not own a school however I know most Kempo schools and may be able to point you to a school more in line with what you are looking for.

Thank you Kempocos! While I know pvt instruction has limitations, there is always the instructor to spar with. (I guess? :)
Some have told me TKD is very structured & my son likes some JKD techniques! ....For now we are staying where we are, but I DO need to further investigate. We border Mercer cty, Middlesex & Monmouth (beleive it or not) Where abouts are you? Looking fwd to hearing back from you!
