Alreet all,
Has anyone read the book The Craft of the Japanese Sword (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/087011798X/qid%3D1128703312/202-5455328-4433417)?

Any comments? Would you recommend it to someone, namely me?

Cheers in advance,
Anth :)

I admit I haven't read all of it: I bought it as a birthday present for my boyfriend last year (my funds not stretching far enough to actually buy him a sword, so he got a book on them instead! ;) )

What I have read seems to be an great introduction to modern traditional japanese swordmaking, with lots of the history and development thrown in for good measure.

It goes through the process from swordsmith through polisher, habaki maker, saya maker and finally back to the swordsmith. My only slight quibble is that the piccies are in black and white only.

Reminds me, I must borrow it off him again and finish reading it :D

I did it, I have ordered it (through the MAP link) :D

I will review it myself when I get it - after getting some strange looks while reading it in the common-room at 6th-form :D

Lol! I got my sword out a work once to show a mate. Much hilarity ensued. I had no idea that some people were so sensitive to these things.
