I wished. It's just a little out of my reach financially at this point. Sounds like it would be really cool though.

I think Sa Bum Nim Jan Butler and Kwan Jang Nim Frank D'Amato are going. They should both be getting promoted there, too.

I wish I could go. My instructor Dan Middleton KJN is going with a few students, but there's no way I could afford it.

Lest anyone be confused by this thread resurrection, we went to Korea in 2005 and had a great time.
We're not planning to go to Korea in 2009. A combination of family factors, one being that I think our fellow kuksoolin would appreciate NOT being subjected to an 18-month-old on the 14 hour flight.

Well, I know in the States it can be hard to find a decent job without a degree. So if you can only afford one, education is pretty important. On the other hand, a trip like this is an opportunity for a whole different kind of education.
It's a tough balancing act, figuring out what you can afford vs. what you can't afford to miss out on.

Just thinking about the trip to korea and wondered if anyone has any info about the 4 nights at the training center? I've heard we share with the same gender, sleep in a big hall on the floor and a monk comes round about 3am banging drums?? thats kinda ok but can we shower, wash our hair etc? is there electric? ( i know this sounds really bad but I'm female :) ) i know its doubtful but i just need the info. My other half whos a PSBN doesnt know or really care, grrrrr! but i just need to know if i'm gona have to leave my shampoo n hair dryer behind :( All info about the trip will be greatly appreciated! sorry if this sounds silly.....

Bring your shampoo and hair dryer. As Gi Ma Ja Se says, floors you sleep on will be heated from underneath. As I recall, even Baek Dam Sah had electricity. You may (or may not) need a power converter and/or adaptor.

yeah, gutted about that!
does anyone know if the deposit still has to be paid by the end of this year?

I had my deposit returned to me, and told to reapply next year, so I guess not.
Hope that helps.

Really!
Mine was cashed,
Are they all being returned?
There has not exaclty been a big thing made of it, the only reason i found out was my insturctor told me, as he was told at tournament.
Its extremely un profesional how we have not been sent letters confirming any places, and the fact money has been cashed. THEN no formal method of letting us know its been postponed till the year after.
Its common courtesy. Max 100 letter to be sent out. Hardly a big deal. Especailly when we have been expected to drop £1600 on it.

Give them a chance. I think the decision was made pretty recently. I'm sure you will all be told in due course.

Really!
Mine was cashed,
Sorry Shibby, my bad, I probably gave the wrong impression here. The full story is as follows! I don't think my had been sent to KSW Headquaters yet and thus I was just given it back by my school. I had only handed it in a couple of weeks earlier as I figured that as it only needed to be paid before Christmas, the money was better off in my account until it had to be handed over. And therefore, handed the check over in time for it to be sent and cashed before Christmas. I guess I was lucky in my timing!! I guessed from that that the deposit didn't have to be paid before Christmas still.
However, although I am gutted that the trip is not on in 2009 as I was sooo looking forward to it, even now(!), in some respects it does give others the oportunity to save and come out, and therefore there are a few people who I know who wouldn't be able to go in 2009, who are now considering it for 2010, so there is a silver lining to this cloud. And my understanding is that because 2008 is the 50th year and there are the big celebrations next year people were having to choose between the USA next year and Korea the year after. This way by moving Korea to 2010, more poepl can do both if they so desire.
Hope this helps Shibby, and sorry for the confusion.

I know the clearlake students will be happy about that, since the Harmons will be promoted to 9th degree in 2009.
