I think its table 71.

0.8% defended themselves with a weapon while 1% simply threatened with a weapon.
versus
9.8% defended themselves empty handed while 2.3% threatened to do the same

so more people are willing to attack with their hands and threaten the use of a weapon than use the weapon and threaten to hit them

21.8% resisted or captured their attacker
15.7% ran away
12.3% called for help
2.3% simply screamed in fear

cool stuff

Estimates based on about 10 or fewer sample cases

I realized that too. Kind of strange. Actually in the federal government not doing your job get you a promotion. If the guy plays his cards right he could take over as the head of FEMA, even better there is a lifetime Supreme Court appointment available.

Hehehe, nice one :D

I love how from such a small sample they've got tenths of percentages in there too. Of course, percent is per hundred, so a tenth of that is per thousand...

A study of 10 people recently showed that 7 people in every thousand....
etc :)

It seems the person who took the poll got the supreme court position.

Hmmm, where do I fit in? My son and I knocked the crap out of a mugger last winter/spring. He had the weapon, we, ahem, took it from him....

resisted or captured attacker sounds good

could say you defended yourself empty handed since you started off weaponless.

Robbery by Weapon
An examination of the 2004 supplemental data regarding the type of weapons offenders used in the commission of the robbery revealed that assailants relied on strong-arm tactics in 41.1 percent of robberies during 2004; they employed firearms in 40.6 percent of robberies. Offenders used knives or other cutting instruments in 8.9 percent of these crimes. In the remaining 9.4 percent of robberies, the offenders used other types of weapons. (See Table 19.)

Weapons Distribution
The UCR Program collects weapon data for murder, robbery, and aggravated assault offenses. An examination of these data indicated that most violent crime (30.7 percent) involved the use of personal weapons, such as hands, fists, feet, etc. Firearms were used in 26.4 percent and knives or cutting instruments were used in 15.5 percent of violent crime. Other dangerous weapons were used in 27.3 percent of violent offenses. (Based on Tables 2.9 and 19.)
