When I was in DC a few weeks back I read about this and found some pics and info on the net and thought I'd pass along ...

As American as Gatka (http://www.sepiamutiny.com/sepia/archives/001774.html)

Its a traditional sikh art based on a few core movements or something and was made famous when a palace or something was attacked but nobody could get past the blades of the sikh guards.

We have Gatka demoed frequently at SENI. I really would like to have it at a mapmeet here to be honest but they are based in Birmingham (some distance away!)and they are so skilled I can't see them doing it without a fee - but I'm rude enough to ask - which I will in the new year for the next Southern Mapmeet. :)
