I am very interested in getting into martial arts, mostly Kung Fu however I am open to other styles if you have suggestions. I don't know a whole lot. I live near Houston Texas and I am looking for a school/dojo/sensei/club/teacher. If anyone knows of these relatively close to that area, I would be most grateful.

Vincent Peppers is in Texas, but I'm not sure if it's houston or not. The guy is fantastic, he does Bok Fu Pai (White Tiger Internal Kung Fu), he trained my cousin as well as my instructors.

If you are called Rickimaru why do you want to practice kung fu.
...I was joking
You might find a school if you try sites of martial arts federations.
Try google for your invest.

I have a sihing in El paso that knows Black Tiger as well as Wing Chun and some FMA,but he's in El Paso plus he's going to make you pay for his knowledge. But it would be like no other training you ever done. They practice against many other styles hand to hand. It's real combat not sport stuff plus these guys are serious. They fight against BJJ,Wing Chun<Arnis,Kung Fu ,Karate. So you will be able to defend youself.I also have a friend that's a Hung Gar teacher in El Paso. He's going to be training with them very soon.

Let me know if this intrest you?

That means you are the man then!

After your sifu you are owed the most respect by everyone else.In most schools you have to bow to both the Sifu and Sihing as a show of respect.

The Sihing is the Big brother Sifu is the father.

Simo = Sifu's wife.

I left that out earlier.

Sorry for the thread derailment to the OP.

We use SiHing a bit different, it does still mean older brother but we utilize it only for the instructors. The junior instructors we call jo gao which literally translates into assistant of teacher. Also the eldest of SiHings is called Dai SiHing. This is a title given to the highest ranking instructor in the school, outside of the SiFu that is.

There are a few "Shaolin monks" in Houston.

Try www.houstonshaolin.com.

Shi Xing Hao - I've seen vids and he looks pretty good. Check out the vid clips on the site.

There are others in Houston as well. Try Google.

Hope this helps

Paul
