Hey im new to the forums i usually dont post on things like these but ive been reading this thread for quite sometime and think that you guys are over looking an essential part to win any self defense or street fight situation.... im an 0311 rifleman who was discharged a few months ago... ive boxed for the marines and for a local gym for a few years now... i also trained in MCMAP while i was in the corps... me and a few buddys from the service enjoy going to the bars on weekends and looking for a fight... if its one thing ive learned... the element of suprise wins every fight.... we do whats called attack the flanks... one of us will square up with whoever it is we are fighting and when the person least expects it my other friend will hit him from the side... if he regains himself and focuses on my friend... thats when i hit him... if you give a kid no possible chance to win and show him violence hes never seen before then hes gonna lose the intimidation factor and its an easy win.... i just think you guys should think of that when you talk about self defense because when i fight... i dont telegraph punches i let them come when they least expect it... and theres no real way to prepare or to train for something like that.... yea it might not be fair... but my face has no scars on it ;o) and there isnt such a thing as a fair fight... unless its conducted in a gym

So you wasted all that typing to tell us that you go out looking for fights with your rough and tough Marine buddies and your illustrious training and martial arts background and yet you still have to rely on sucker punches to win?
Wow... thanks for the sheer genius of it all. :bang:
It seems you've graduated from: 'Yes sir, No sir'

Don't ever besmirch the name of any MA by claiming this crap is it. I train for exact situations like this because I bounce and it sorry butt mofo's like you and your friends that make everyone think MA's are buttmunches. One day your gonna try this stuff and somebody is gonna put three or four slugs in your sorry chest and whoever does should be given a medal of honor for it. so if i follow you here you and a couple of your real tough buddies go out and pull military style ambushes on unsuspecting patrons in bars? thats hardly the image i have or Chesty Puller had for the USMC. Its more likely you were NEVER in any service because the usmc builds men...not little punk thugs.
This sounds like a cool little fantasy though... I bet it really impresses the girls :D LOL. You are a joke and you have no business on a martial forum.

As a former ex-Marine who served during the 9/11 crisis period, let me be the first Marine to say, "You're a moron, Private. Go clean the god damn head and quit clogging the self-defense forums."
Don't give Marines a bad name.
By the way, the method of wuss fighting you entailed is called "Wolf Packing". Essentially, because wolves are too scared to travel and hunt alone, they surround their larger prey and continually attack from all sides to minimize the prey's ability to focus on one major damage dealer.
It's also an integral part of "Moving Combat", which you shoulda learned in MCT/SOI.
However, publicly bragging about bullying innocent civilians in pack formation says two things about you.
1. You are single and lonely, as no self-respecting woman would hang out with someone like you.
2. Your behavior is atrocious and reflects badly on yourself and the rest of the Corps.
Get over yourself, get a hobby, take some anger management classes, start training in Martial Arts, then come visit with the adults.
May you achieve

These posts may be mean but baiting innocent civies is alot worse and makes Americans in gerneral look like crap right now we don't need any help getting the rest of the world to hate us our government leaders have done a fine job with out losers like this doing it for them.

There's a difference between being mean and making an example of an idiot, and this guy deffinately needs to be made an example of. He's abusing his USMC training, and if he was in the USMC, should be being tried for assault right now. He obviously learned no respect while he was in the Marines, and someone might as well tell him straight out that he's a bloody idiot, and a valueless member to society

So your idea of fun is to go out with a group of friends and ambush people. It's no wonder the Corps kicked you out. That's exactly the sort of borderline criminal screwup they can't afford to have in uniform. Imagine relying on someone like that where lives and a mission are on the line.
They did the right thing - spanked you and sent you home before you could endanger good soldiers or the reputation of the USMC. And you weren't even important enough to send to prison. Just some time in the brig and a ticket home with a permanent mark that says "not worth salvaging even when we're short of bullet sponges".
I do consider multiple attackers in my self defense training. You know what? If a bunch of guys decide to ambush you unaware it's going to be a pretty bad evening no matter how good you are. We knew that already.
Now go back under the bridge and hope that no billy goats come trip-tropping by.

Ok, to your point that it supposedly takes a Marine to judge your actions I refer you back to Satori's post. And having a number of friends and aquaintances that have been in the Corps as well, I have to say that they would agree with the general response to your preditory behavior.
Onto the substance of your post: yes, most of us who have spent time working self defense are both aware of the advantages and the dangers of the sucker punch. And to your broader point, as part of our own personal defense training/execution, most of us make it a point to avoid the places where folks like you hang out and further, to do everything to avoid a situation where we knowingly allow ourselves to be surrounded on hostile terriorty. This is core awareness strategy.

Do wolves go hungry? Yeah, actually they do quite a bit. And lead a hard life. And if you're not the alpha then you're just a foot soldier. And if you are the alpha, you always have someone gunning for you.
Also wolves tend not to get steady employment. Which leads us to:

The marine corps has changed alot..... especially in the past years.... ever heard of a thing called hazing... you guys sound like the only thing you know about the marine corps is the stuff that comes out of the recruiters mouth.... ive seen senior NCOS try to rip Privates to LCPLS eyes out because they got a little too drunk.... i've had my Company 1st sgt deny my red cross message about my dieing mother so i had to be in the feild at lejuene instead of home with my family to get a couple of last moments in... the marine corps puts troop welfare infront of family and im sorry... but i cant have any part of that... my family/blood comes first in any situation..... honor, courage, commitment, its all hype.... the only real marine are the vietnam veterans... nowadays.... its just college dropouts on power trips... so basically... its as if someone were to put a select few of you in a position of power over other peoples lives and familys....

drunkenmonkey
29-Aug-2005, 09:40 PM
First of all respect is earned it may be old and used up phrase but it's true. Respect is earned through discipline self control and taking the credit for your actions. I grew up in "the hood' to put it lightly and we frowned upon this packing behavior in thew streets if you had beef you solved it man to the only time it was upped was when some dumbass with a gun upped it then it was fair game on him and his thats how alot of people died or got hurt just trying to mind their own biz. People like you misjudge respect for fear and when humans fear something enough they get stupid and usually destroy it in the worst possible way. Crying that this is somebody elses fault is a scapegoat to I can't handle the reprecusions of my own lousy action and thats why the institution booted me. I got beat almost every day of my life by my mom and people in the neighborhood our street was shot up at least once a week by crack dealers and gangs but I don't go out every weekend picking on people with a group of friends because I could'nt adjust but at least my family and friends respect me and I can sleep at night. RESONSIBILITY try some. And you should of known if your so good at sizing up potential "victims" that you were gonna get lynched in a forum built on the concept of respect for your opponent. For the sake of sanity and the masses someone needs to close this thread soon.

Most Marines finish basic and their advanced MOS school. Most of them don't end up in the brig or tossed out with a "sorry SOB" discharge. One thing they have in common is taking responsibility for their actions. You can tell a Marine by his or her "No excuses, sir!" attitude. Somehow it didn't take with you.

That's one outcome: on the path he's choosen there are three outcomes
1) He severely injures or kills someone and gets to learn about real ambushes in prison (and how to wear lipstick, too).
2) He catches the wrong person or someone that's on to his game and they punch his ticket for him. (I could tell quite a few real life tales about this type of thing happening).
3) He wises up and gets help. (Some do it on their own, others have to have life kick them around a bit before they get with it).

This one is for all you military types. For those who don't know, Rangers
are *extremely* well trained members of the U.S. Army. Marines are people
who start out as normal soldiers and then are made to believe that bullets
don't actually hurt.
One day a platoon of Marines are on patrol when they come upon a
Ranger relaxing on top of a small hill. The Ranger puts his hands on his
hips and screams out, "Do any of you seaweed sucking jarheads think you're
man enough to take me on?"
The biggest Marine comes running up the hill, screaming back at the
Ranger. When he gets to the top he simply plows into his foe and the two
tumble down the other side of the hill, out of sight. There is the sound of
a horrendous fight for a moment or two, and then all is quiet. Soon, the
Ranger reappears, quite untouched. He puts his hands on his hips and sneers,
"Well, looks to me like one of you couldn't do it, how about the rest?"
The enraged Marine platoon leader sends his entire platoon (30+men)
charging after the Ranger. They all go tumbling down the far side of the hill.
After 15 minutes of screaming and yelling and cursing a lone, bloodied Marine
crawls over the top of the hill. The platoon leader yells up to his man,
"What's going on up there?" The wounded Marine, with his last bit of breath,
replies, "Sir, it's a... a trap, sir. There's two of them!"
