I'm currently studying Hapkido, but I'm interested in studying another MA to go along with it. I checked in my area and the near by schools are: Tae Kwon do, Karate, Tang Soo Do, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Kung-Fu (Golden Mountain Kung-Fu?), Kenpo, and Yongin

I was thinking about a offensive or ground grappling MA because , although well rounded, Hapkido is primarily a Self-Defense martial art

Thanks for the advice

If you are asking for an opinion then I would go with whatever style YOU pick. They are all good styles. You are going to get many biased answers back from this. So it is easier to check the schools out yourself and make a decision.

no offense, but there are many other threads with the same question posted here on this forum. you can read them and make your choice decision.

BJJ sounds like a good choice to me.

I'm just asking for opinions thiaboxr2, I know its up to me and that they all have their strengths, just thought I'd ask people who knew about the arts and new what meathods they go towards before I go sit in on a lesson in every school

Hi Paratus,

thaiboxr2 makes a good point.
If you want an art that compliments HKD, I would say BJJ or Kenpo. TKD and Karate (depending upon the style) are similar to HKD. I don't know much about Kung-Fu (though many styles are very kick oriented) nor Yongin, so I cannot help you here, I'd check them out to see what they were (if it was me). I do, however, know that BJJ will focus on ground fighting, although it will mainly be sport oriented. Kenpo (Parker, American Kenpo) is phenomenal, if you are coordinated enough to learn it. It will really help any MA style anyone trains. I have trained it (I didn't want to learn new forms, just the concepts) and loved it! I still use many of the concepts and ideas of it. Try and check it out. If the school has a good instructor it can be impressive.
