View Full Version : Shukokai Karate
I have been training in Shukokai Karate for around 2 years now I think and reached purple belt. On other boards I have seen that Karate is not too popular, I myself am about to move on, but it is mainly because of my teachers attitude, and I sometimes felt that I gained the belts to easily, which makes me question my actual skills and his teaching.
Is anyone familiar with Shukokai Karate, and if so could you give your views?
I am thinking of moving on to do Judo or Jujitsu so that I can get to grips with some grappling to go with the striking used in Karate. Do you think thats a good idea? I will probably come back to Karate or another striking system in the future.

Hi pk,
I do know some Shukokai Karate people, and it's a very well respected style in my area.
Don't believe everything you read here!
Grappling and Ground Fighting are very important skills to acquire though, so yes, good idea.
Thanks again for the speedy reply Mr Murray. As I said I would probably like to return to Karate in the future, however I haven't come across any other Shukokai clubs. Are there many in the UK? Do you know if there are many in the Greater Manchester area?

Ah great thats very cool of you, I might check some of these out. Thanks again.
They sound like good setups, with bags and stuff. I just trained where my teacher could rent floor space. He had a main Dojo but it was a bit away, so I never traiend there.

Before leaving the discipline totally, have you thought about simply changing style for a bit?
