View Full Version : Personal tuition
Hi, this is my first post, but I have been surfing martial arts boards for a while, I have just been looking for the best one to join. This looks like a good board :D
Anyway, I have been training in Shukokai Karate for around two years (I think) and I am currently a purple belt, I am however just about to leave the club, mainly because of the attitude of my instructor. Anyway thats a bit of background.
I have been thinking about personal tuition, but I would like to know if it is very expensive. I know prices will vary greatly from club to club but I would like to know generally, what is too high and what is too low?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Hi PK,
Welcome to the forum.
It would help us if you filled out your member profile.
If we know where you are, and how old you are, we may be able to point you in the direction of someone suitable in your area.
If you are two years into training, I honestly think you are better sticking with an open Dojo environment so you have other people to learn with.
Good Luck
Andy
Thanks for the quick reply!
I am actually about to leave the club that I am currently with and will almost certainly join another open Dojo, as you said, its best for me at this time.
I was just really curious about general pricing of personal tuition.

You know the answer though!
Anything good, comes at a price.
Private fees will average between £25 to £50 per session I would guess.
Yeah I thought it might be around there. Thanks for the help.

Probably because I was in there and as I'm in Wigan I may be able to help you find what you're looking for.
Ah right cool. I have read through your profile, and I have also been interested in FMA do you do that in Wigan, are there any FMA classes in the Bolton area?

Yeah pk,
we were waiting in there to talk to you, not mug you. :D
No worries, YODA knows your area very well, so what do you fancy?
Lol no offence or anything, im sure the people here are great, just online chat is something I dont do. :D
I was thinking of doing something like Judo or Jujitsu and I have been interested in FMA
pk., they'll be gentle with you - promise! If you're worried about going into a chat room with them, how do you plan to have tuition with them?
Yeah but its different then cause then you know who they are and everything. Its just I have heard to many bad things about people getting into big trouble through chat.
After a couple of days I can see that that wont be a problem on this board but you know id rather just discuss things on the forum if its all the same to you.
Like I said before I dont mean to offend anyone.

Hi pk.
Our Chat Room is intended to be members only.
Admin staff have been doing a lot of work on our chat room. It's nearly there now. We do still have a couple of irritating people slipping through the net, who don't have the guts to misbehave when the moderators are in there.
We're looking into specific chat times to cover specific pre-arranged topics. These will be moderated. Which means, our Chat Mod, Kyokushin Girl will be there, or myself, or YODA etc.
Any innapropriate chat gets that member kicked out of the room for that session.
If you see a post along the lines of 'Moderated Chat', or look at a chat post and see that one of the moderators is in there, then it's entirely safe for you to enter.
Or your money back :D
Lol yeah im sure its as safe as houses, I think I will be able to get the info I need for the forums.
Thanks for the reassurance.
Andy, why not just kick those 'trolls' out permanently - or at least issue a warning that they will be kicked.
This is a great site and we can do without that.

Becasue at the moment we don't know who they are.
Soon we will know who they are - and more importantly who they were - then there will be some kicking going on :D
