Prisoner Of Azkaban for me, closely followed by Half Blood Prince, then Order Of The Phoenix. Most definatly Chamber Of Secrets is my least favourite of the series :( I just couldn't get into the story as well as any of the others.

PoA by far the best book. The later ones might be longer but they just aren't as tightly written.
CoS - the worst, felt like a rerun of the first without any of the good bits.

Yep CoS blew chuncks! Order was good, but the pissy Harry was starting to wear me out.

Order of the Phoenix very closely followed by the Half-Blood Prince.
Least fave, I'd have to agree, Chamber of Secrets. Something about it just didn't click with me.
Prisoner of azkaban did my head in the whole going back in time part just bored me.
Best....? Goblet of fire definitely

I was always under the impression that most people liked Chamber of Secrets as one of the best. I thought it had too much deja vu with the first one personally.
I liked Goblet of Fire best, closely followed by Prisoner of Askaban. It's that middle book, the crossover where the fun, safe, atmosphere is merged with the dark edge.
The ones before seemed relatively safe and inconsequential, and the ones afterwards got a little darker and more depressing...
Perhaps that gap was too large for me to appreciate Order of the Pheonix in the same way (I'd changed a lot in those 3 years) although maybe if she'd remembered to continue the Ron/Hermione thing started in Goblet (she got it going again in Prince) then maybe that book would've seemed a little more complete. :)

I liked the last one a lot. I know a bunch of people that didn't like OotP at all. I liked it except I spent 2 thirds of the book wondering if Harry was ever gonna catch a break.

I liked all the books listen to the audio books all the time while at work. got my copy of HBP at midnight and finished it by the sunday afternoon and now I cant wait for her to get the last book out. I voted POA mainly because I thought it was very cleverly done and the ending gave Harry more hope than I think he had ever had.

I love the half blood prince. It seemed to be long enough to keep me busy, yet relevant at the same time. It was also getting a lot darker and I like the fact that Rowling is obviously telling the story in a way where everything may not turn out alright.
She also kept up a brilliant writing style from IV - I think the first three, although entertaining, were not the most well written books in the world. However she's really developing her skills and the last was a brilliant and, in places, quite intense read.

Most definately PoA or Goblet, and then CoS.
The Order and the HBP are somewhat lacking in my opinion, although I have re-read them many, many times :)
If I'm honest I think there is alot of waffle in Order and HBP (particularly the HBP) that should have been taken out during editing.
The person who mentioned that PoA is 'tight' got it right on in my opinion.

I'd say mine is Goblet of Fire, it's when things really started getting dark, and more interesting

Goblet of Fire. like Paratus said, thats when it really went from kids stuff to one of the best series ever. after that, Order of the Phoenix then Prisoner of Azkaban. Chamber of Secrets sucked!

The goblet of fire actually really bored me. I started re-reading it 6 months ago and put it away (with the bookmark) after maybe a few weeks to read library books instead. I tihnk I might skip it and go on to my favorites- books 5 and 6.
Favorite: OOTP. Most interesting, to me. The myriad of new and important characters, the club, Umbridge, and how dark it all was. HBP follows closely even though Rowling was a filthy cheat with all the boring government ****sh*t in the beginning to add page numbers.
I think the best moment in all of the books was Draco on the train ins HBP. But I love Draco, so that may just be me. I'm in the perfect timeframe for these books- I'm growing up at relatively the same pace, though I suppose I'll be closer to 19 when the last book comes out.

prisoner of azkaban, think it was the best written.
Best written and really intoroduced the idea that just becuase they were not dark magicians people could still be wrong and cause harm through action or inactivity, quite a big philosophical jump for what are regarded by many as just entertaining "kids books", I have read them all and I am 43 BTW.

I voted POA simply because I enjoyed it the most. I would have voted HBP second - you can just feel the tension building towards the last book.
One of my students was reading GOF while we were out in Japan last December. I was giving her grief all the time, generally taking the rip. She made me promise to read a Harry book when we got home. In all fairness, I went out and bought TPS a few days after we got back and settled down with a coffee. Within a week I had read the first three books and was waiting to buy the next one. I'm now up to date and desperate to find out how it all finishes. :D

What I didnt like at all in the entire series is the huge wizard battle at the end of Order of the Phoenix. I thought it wasnt really necessary, it seemed to be written to have a big battle simply because everybody else was coming up with big battles.
That and Harry gets dumped by that Chinese girl after 2 Chapters, huge build up then just goes cold.
Although whats funny is Ginny seems to go through half of Gryffindor before she gets to Harry. Arent they like 14? And no Chav wizard either. I want to see a burberry wizard hat dammit!
