Got it on the XBox yesterday.

And in my opinion it claims the best fighting game spot with ease!

It looks amazing, but its the gameplay that really wins it

I've played the Japanese version and it's a great game. Misitrugi is so great in that game....crazy sword stances.

Should only be a few days before it's here. I can't wait :).

Does it have specific styles for the characters?

Ahhh KOTOR. Two more weeks then it will be mine!!! MINE!! :D

I'm almost finished it... 2 major battels to go I think - the Sith Master approaches! made it through with absolutely ZERO dark side points. My plan wa to play it again gettign no light side points but if SC2 comes out, well, ...

Here is a tip tho: try to keep you level advancement to a minimum until you reach Dantooine and become a Jedi. for example I was 8th level Scout, so my max jedi level will be 12th. (since yo can only have 20 levels). Every jedi level gives you more force powers etc so if I had avoided experience pts on Taris (the first planet) I would have been able to get 2 more jedi levels later a the expense of 2 scout levels.

Yeh I got KOTOR a week ago an finished it just before the weekend. I finished it following the light side.

I started again to follow the darkside, but then I got SCII yesturday :D

Ooooo.... if you just want to skip to level 20 go to the sith base on korriban with a high computer skill and do the function in the training room on the computer that requires 0 repair parts.. do it over and over and you are level 20..tah dah.... or do get unlimited dark side just go the the little person on your ship and yell at her to get off of it over and over and that works too....

but I guess this thread isn't about KOTOR.....

I got Soul Calibre 2 on Game Cube and Link is perhaps the greastest fighter of all time in ones own opinion!
By the way I am from GREAT Britain.

I got it on monday...on xbox. And spawn is great. PS2 and GC got crappy special characters compared to Spawn.PS2 got it the worst. But im glad I got this game. Its great

I pwns that game with Nightmare. He is the man! I wish you could play that game over the net. Tournaments would rock!

Mr C
02-Oct-2003, 11:42 AM
Link is the best, becuase he fits in with the medieval theme of the game, Spawn does not fit becuase he is a modern character and he "starred" in a crappy film.
One more thing "GameCube rocks to the Frick'en core, man!"

djhallib
02-Oct-2003, 01:16 PM
Haha...is SCII out for the PS1 perhaps? :(

I guess tekken3 will have to do.

Terry Matthes
02-Oct-2003, 01:32 PM
Yes it is and your special character is that old man from Tekken that wears the wooden shoes.

Mr C
03-Oct-2003, 11:41 AM
His name is heicachi and he's not bad, but he dosn't have a weapon, which kind of defeats the point of soul calibre.
I think most people are likley to say he is the best exclusive character but only because the number of PS2 owners is greater than GameCube and Xbox put together. oh, and sorry but SCII isn't on psOne djhallib.
P.S. any Nintendo GameCube fans out there?

Let me say this - the best version is the X-box (it got rated the best)

Then Gamecube

Last as always PS2.

As for the characters who would you go for. Soul caliber is all about weapons so in my opinion Link kills it.

What is so special about spawn huh??? (even though spawn was rated the best charecter to have on each plaform)

and heicachi.. pah don't make me laugh

I do not own the game yet.. I am waiting for the soul Caliber 2 joystick to come out for the Gamecube.. Gamecube should have brought out a joystick ages ago. Have u played Capcom vs Snk 2..
the controls are disgraceful.

Any PS2 peoples don't take this the wrong way, this is only my opinion but as far as the PS2 is concerned I have not seen one game that really utilizes the full capabilities of PS2's power. Playstation is all about quantity not quality in my view. I mean I have seen some dreamcast games that smacks PS2 games in the face, and the dreamcast has half the power of a PS2. PS2 needs to fix up and start making cames that utilizes PS2's power. I know for a fact that the PS2 is a very powerfull machine so it should show this.

Many Thanks

Ferdinand - P.S any PS2 fans feel free to slate me off but I wanna hear people speak up about their machine.

I agree I've plyed lots of games where I thought they could have made it better. Nightmare and the soul edge are amazing, maxi really fast too. I think it sucks that PS2 gets Hiyachi from Tekkken and Gamecube gets Link, and X-box gets Spawn

Hey! what's wrong with Hiyachi? You dont have to have the "good" special character! The rest of of them kick enough a** as it is!
Besides, the PS2 rocks.

Hey there, has anyone realised that in this game legendarry music man David Bowie of all people(!) makes a special apperance as a character in this game? :D

KenpoDavid
15-Oct-2003, 10:31 PM
really, where?

TheBorderer

On the Gamecube version at least, duno what the characters name is, if you try to do a player select, have a look, there is a character that does incredibally look like him, and I joke you not gaming folks! :)

Well... Soul Caliber is all about weapons so... I heard that Hiyachi has none... so what's up with that. Well I ain't hating on PS2 but man they need to fix up.

Ya, the purpose of the game is the Weapons, but at the same time, it's cool that they put Hiyachi in in the first place, and his fists are supposed to be his weapons. Anyone who has played w/ him in Tekken knows what I'm talking about.

Kenshiro: As for the PS2, I guess you could say I'm biased b/c I have one and I really don't like Microsoft (hence my dislike of the X box). PS2 has awesome abilities; just take a look at any of the graphics for the Final Fantasy series. They're killer!

I got the game on the release day. I went in all of the shop on oxford street, piles of Xbox and PS2 versions but Cube version soled out in like an hour. Gold one of the last ones from HMV though.

I have played on Xbox vers but had to have 5 minuets intervals every 10 minuets to rest my fingers after the strain of wrapping them around the controller.

What site is this? Martialartsplanet.com? It's funny to hear people rag on Heihachi for not using weapons. Mr. Mishima is a Karateka, he doesent NEED a sword, he IS a weapon. The whole point of MA is to become the ultimate weapon (no offence to anyone who didn't realise this). Heihachi is a 75 year old man who can whip the H. E double friggin hockey sticks out of a deamon guy with a huge sword with an eyeball on it! Heihachi is one tough SOB:woo: ! He doesent need a weapon to win. He's tough to master, but when you have him down, you will be nearly unbeatable. PS2 has the best controls of all the systems (GC has the worst), thou it has the worst graphics (X-box has the best). So it beats the GC, but "ties" the Xbox on this game.:woo: :o

To Maximicus:

Yeah right.... PS2 and Xbox tie, hell no.

check the reviews www.ign.com

Even if it did... prove it

The review on IGN is official so bring me something that stands by your conviction.

Most reviews of the game say the same story and the GC controls may suck with the pad but have u used the official soul caliber 2 joystick for the cube..... Nope... then I rest my case.

If it was your opinion than fair enough no harm done, if you are gonna say something about a game being better on another platform prove it unless it is your own opinion.

Come correct my friend

Peace

I just purchased the game today. Got familiar with the basic and some advanced moves. I like the idea that there is a weapon master mode. Gives a specific goal to go for.

Im just surprised that each character has so many damn moves!
Its going to be hard to remember.

I will try to master 1 person at a time, slowly working my way up to all of them.

Its too bad spawn isn't in the PS2 version.:)

I only wish it was for the PC :(

Damn and there's no emulator for PS2 or x-box, even if there was it'd make a big dent in my pocket for a radeon 9800 :(

To be honast, I really don't get why this game got such high rates.

I bought it, expecting it to be the fighting game of the generation. I was dissapointed.

No level interation was one of the drawbacks, and graphics another. Nothing realy distictive about the chars.

I see DOA3 waay better then SC2.

I just bought it today.

While being an acegame it doens't differ enough from soul calibur for me.......or even soul blade.

One thing which has annoyed me is that it is slower. One of the major reasons i liked soul blade over tekken was becasue it was faster. This is still faster.BUt not fast enough.

Ace game tho.

i got sc2 on gamecube, and all the argument about which special char is best is kind of useless... it just depends on what kind of style you like, i kinda like Link, i can recognise a lot about him, and he has this kind of straight ahead fighting style :)

about mastering a char, i haven't done that so far.. just finished weapon master mode and now i'm starting to master someone... but who? nightmare surely catches my liking...or raphael.... hmmmm.....

PS.. the controls on the gamecube are mostly found irritating and such.... i haven't had much trouble with it yet, strange..

Heihachi is very powerful because he is deadly fast and his combos are fairly powerful. Plus he has a lot of knockback moves. Reach doesn't really matter in a fighting game if you can master guarding, then darting in to strike. Link is okay, but his weapons other than the sword are useless. Haven't played with Spawn, so I don't know about him.

Maximicus
13-Jan-2004, 10:11 PM
I got a ps2 so... WTF is up with Link using a net???

Kiddy-Kenshi
15-Jan-2004, 01:41 PM
well... every char has a weapon that says: "something good might happen if you use it" , link's is the net :)

Kreen_Warrior
17-Jan-2004, 07:07 AM
Actually, the Great Fairy Sword (or something like that) is his legendary weapon, his net is his joke weapon, like Voldo's tambourines or Seung Mina's broom.

Maximicus
17-Jan-2004, 09:14 PM
Why doesnt Spawn have a "funny" joke weapon? Eh, Hiehatchi Just has bracelets that look like himself.

Kreen_Warrior

What's his joke weapon? Don't have X-Box, so I haven't seen it.

they should make a game thats either tekken vrs Mortal combat or SC vrs mortal kombat. That would be the best 1v1 fighter.

Thank god I'm not the only one that misses Mortal Kombat.
But Soul Calibur 2 rocks. The different fighting styles, personalities, back stories, and even timings of the different characters is what makes the game great to me. Also, adding in the different weapons has made the game even more expansive.
Plus...haven't you noticed the game gets harder the more you play it? I swear this thing is intelligent. Even the arcade versions. They get harder as you get better, even if you leave the default difficulty setting alone.

I'm getting tired of Mortal Kombat, it seems like everything that could be done has been done so I'm tired of it
