Ok, I have been trying for quite a while now....usually any software espeacially games has a few cab files within them ie archives, but they don't actually open when we try to view them, is there any way of extracting them or viewing them without running the setup? Maybe some external proggys out there which I din't know of....c'mon ya geeks, I need some help here :D
PS - Please excuse my typos if any, I am a dufus at grammer at 2:00 am in the night ;)
Thanx,

Yea, WinRar, or WinAce, should open them fine.

Well, that's the problem, no archiver opens it, I am guessing they are speacially archived....

Ok, here's the thing, take any program, look in their setup you should find something like data.cab or setup.cab, when you try to open them they don't even with winrar/winace, that gives a clearer description I guess...

They seem to only open with the games setup programs, probably to make em harder to rip off.....
Why you want to open them cain?

The setup seems to be kinda corrupted, I am trying to open the archives to get those files, might require registry entries too but it does'nt hurt to try ;)

Maybe the cab files are corrupt

Nope - actually the thing is the setup itself does'nt start...gives me an illegal operation...

You'll just have to download some working software instead ;)

Gah! It's a demo version of Jedi knight II!!!
And buy software? very few know the meaning here in India to tell you the truth :D

Tried doing it through the DOS prompt? I can't remember the exact commands, but it may be worth a shot.

I actually got it!!!
It requires an installshield decompressor :D
I mean those setups are created by installshield and the cab files can be opened only through that decompressor, took me a while to figure it out though...
Thanx for the help,
