I know I'm not alone in doing this. Have you ever come across those ads that feature fat slobs who've miraculously transformed themselves into sleek hunks or models within a standard six to twelve week period just by using diet product. I actually scrutinize the picture .... is that really her or him... is that the same person??

Suffice it to say that many of these dietary supplements when used together with proper dieting and exercise will improve one's figure but I hate to see people tricked into buying into these fantasies created by these types of advertisements.... of course no one reads the fine print "these results may be exceptional blah blah blah...."

These "before and after" claims are all in the photography.
No those are their real heads and bodies (photos cannot be altered in that way) but they can through body positioning, lighting, clothing style and body hair modifications. It's amazing what a truly gifted photographer can do (right Yoda?? ;) )

Notice the nice suntan in the "after" shots?? Many of the women also wear make-up, smile more, and were positioned better.

I'm not saying to post your own before and after shots (now wouldn't that be fun!!)
.... but you too can prove them all wrong by achieving the same amazing results !
Begin with good lighting (low light. evening is best) and a good background....suck in your gut, stand straight with head held high, throw those shoulders back (girls stick out your assets!), fix your hair, shave, smile ..... and take a shower that would help also!

There ..... "before & after"!!!!

;) :D

In slimming ads there's also used a bit of photo editing, sometimes a lot, someone working in the industry once told me, removal of exess fat and bad patches of skin etc.

Are there no watch dogs to check the authenticity of the Before and After scams, so that they can catch them straight away and lock em up :p

Theres just too many false advertisements out there to do anything about them. evertime you get 1 scam removed there are always 10 more waiting to take its place. Many businesses are in it for the money and not for the consumer. So they dont care what we think. Only how much of what they sell.
I see the same photos and wonder myself. Certian people can do it in 12 weeks. But they are sticking to a strict diet and not cheating for that time. Always eating healthy and exercise on a regular basis. Sometimes have a personal trainer to ensure that they are sticking to their regimen.

In fine print... results not typical, proper diet and exercise routine required for maximal results. I dont need a product to tell me that.

It works! If I suck my gut in, hold my arms folded high across my floating rib and turn 45 degrees into the mirror so, I look like an absolute flippin' he-man! You could probably design workout programs just based on what you have to do to make yourself look better.

I think most all of them are fake.

I always thought get a guy that's in shape and pay him $$$$ for sitting on his ass all day!!

Easy before and after, take already conditioned athletes (who used hard work/roids) let them slack off!!!

Photo's once i've lost another 5 kgs!!!! ;)

I used to work in a photograhy studio when I was a student where, to advertise their tacky range of "makeover" photos, they got a model and made her look bad for the "before" shot (harsh lighting, no makeup, baggy clothes, they made her hair look lank and greasy, got her to sit hunched up and look miserable) so she'd look incredible after the makeover (all the things Kickchick describes, plus a low-cut dress and vaseline on the lense!).

Customers turned up expecting to be turned into models but all they ended up with was a much lighter wallet and a soft focus photo of themselves with too much makeup on and very big hair.

As far as I can see, anyone selling a "miracle" diet that's anything other than a healthy eating and excercise plan is selling a scam. I reckon the people in the ads may have genuinely lost weight but whether they did it healthily is another matter and the real test is whether they've managed to keep the weight off a few months or a year down the line. I'd like to see that in an advert....
