I'm training in Hapkido at one of Master Gedo Chang's schools (I only see him at belt rankings). I was just curious if anyone else has trained under him or heard of him for that matter. Not a major topic but its just a conversation starter.......

Hi Paratus,
Gedo Changs representative here in London, is Tammy Parlour.
Is Master Chang affiliated to any particular style of Hapkido, say Sin Moo?

Well, I'm pretty sure its Wol Ge Kwan Hapkido. I'm getting this from one of Master Chang's school sites located at Georgia State University.
"Dr. Nargundkar has been practicing Wol-Ge-Kwan Hapkido for the past 15 years under the guidance of Dr. Thomas Tisue and Master Gedo Chang"

Oh That's what style it is,
I didn't know, I get really confused between the Hapkido styles.
Have you done any other styles of Hapkido and how do they compare and what's it like learning directly and indirectly from Gedo Chang?

Wol Ge Kwan Hapkido is my first Martial Art, and currently my only one. So I don't have much expirence outside of it. Although going into different styles, and different MA's for that matter sounds interesting
Well, I've never actually be taught by master Chang himself but I do learn from one of his 2nd degree black belts outside the main school. He does give speeches at the end of each belt ranking though, and they are insightful. His way for teaching the skills is well organized and easy to learn. Hmmmm.....sorry I don't know a whole lot about the details of learning with him

Hi. New to this service. I am a student under Master Chang at the Main School. Are you still training? What did you want to discuss?

Hey milt10n, nice to meet you. Yeah I'm still training, wow you found an old post of mine. I sent you a PM (private message) talk to me there :D Oh, and good luck on the 12th if your testing ;) maybe I'll see you there
I know this is an old post, but I saw several questions out there about Gedo Chang and his Wol Ge Kwan style. I'm certainly no expert, but I do know that Master Chang was one of Han Jae Ji's first students. I've never studied Sin Moo hapkido, but based on the lineage, there are probably a lot of similarities between Sin Moo and Wol Ge Kwan
