well just found out from the doc I might have osteoarthritis in my left hand :(
all he can offer to help is ibruprofen & plenty of it so I'm looking into other less conventional way's of treating this.
One of the things that's been recomended was those copper bracelet thingies & I was wondering if anyone here has anything to say on them, how do they work?? Do they work??? what can I do to stop my arm turning green??? will I look like a girly-boy ( OK will I look More like a girly-boy)????
All I can offer, hig, is yes - they WILL make your arm turn green. I also believe they work if worn for extended periods of thyme.

Sorry to hear that, have you looked into acupuncture as an other alternative, probably to help more with pain relief than some kind of cure. You could also try a copper watch, get the benifits without looking girly.

Hiya hig,
Really sorry to hear about your condition :(
Thought you might find the following link of use:
http://www.intelihealth.com/IH/ihtIH/WSIHW000/8513/25859/317554.html?d=dmtContent
The site is sponsored by Harvard Medical School so at least its backed by influential and experienced people in the field.
Remember, alternative medicine doesn't work for everyone, but as its a 'natural' way it won't hurt to try it. And to my knowledge - nothing goes green :)
Keep us informed mate. :)

Sorry to hear that Hig, as to the green thing, the guy I work next to has one and the band of skin around his wrist has taken on a strangley blue tint to it.
It won't make you look like a Girly-boy, it will make you look new age and sensitive....... ;)

Hig - there was a discussion a few weeks back on the UFA list about it.

Hi Higgs, sorry to hear about it.
You know what caused this?
Is Glucosamine any good for it?
Check with your doc, but heat and massage may help. Do it three times a day for 20 minutes or so. Heat can be applied though hot water, or deep heat rub etc. As Andy said, Glucosamine Sulpahte may help too, because the cartigle thins out in osteoarthritis, and the joint needs more lubrcating fluid to move properly. Check with your doctor before you take any though.
You could trying upping your calcium intake too. I've got inflammatory arthritis, and it helps that over the long term. Ibuprofen is what my doctor prescribed me, but I'm allergic to it, so I don't take anything, other than heat and massage when it gets bad.

Don't know, me mum's got it but the doc say's that it's not ment to be hereditary, recon it's from to much Judo when I was young as it only started to play up when I was doing BJJ recently :(
as for the Glucosamine, I'm going to give it a try, the doc wasn't convinced when I asked about it, the usual "If I can't give you a prescription for it, it don't work". Any suggestions where I can get it cheap???
