Finally the k-1 max GP event happened last night, no videos as of yet but the results and pictures are up. Brief synopsis of the fights (I havent seen them yet so this is just going off what I have heard from people in japan who were either there or saw it on tv)
First reserve fight-
Nitta vs Boku
Nitta beats Boku by judges decision (no other info sorry)

Second reserve fight-
Yasuhiro Kazuya vs Skliaudys.
Yasuhiro wins by TKO in the second round but is cut....

first tournament fight-
Masato vs Zambidis
Zambidis has a lot to prove here, Masato has beaten Zambidis twice in k-1. Zambo throws some big body shots in the first and Masato looks hurt, but Masato comes back in the second and third with low kicks, and scores a knockdown with a short right hand in the third to win a deserved decision

second tournament fight-
Souwer vs Kohi
Kohi tries his usual tactic of clinching and waiting to throw a big knee but it never comes. Souwer beats him down good scoring a standing eight count, and almost a second standing eight count in the third again when Kohi is saved by the bell. judges decision for Souwer.

third fight- John Wayne Parr vs Albert Kraus
John Wayne Parr looks strong for this fight and has been training with the legendary Sakmongkol in thailand. Kraus comes to the ring wearing the most ridiculous costume yet, he looks like a caveman. Kraus is the victim of hard kicks to the body and legs but wins in the hands department. Kraus takes a controversial judges decision, those who were there feel JWP is ripped off.

fourth fight- Buakaw (current champ) vs Jadamba
Jadamba is a bit of an underdog but is very tough and has knocked out Kraus before, so Buakaw does not underestimate him. However Jadamba is outclassed by the quick Thai who wins a judges decision

SUPERFIGHT 1
Duane Ludwig vs Ramon Dekkers
Dekkers looks in real good shape in this fight, despite being a lot older than Ludwig. Ludwig fights hard but he is no match for the living legend, who scores a knockdown in every round with his incredible punching power. easy decision win for Dekkers!

Insane... Dekkers is still rockin' the house!
Christ... how old is he now?
What was Duane Ludwig thinking? That'd have never happened for him in a million years! Never!!!
And your right... Kraus looks ridiculous and JWP was ROBBED!!
But after all these are K-1 judges... LOL... so no surprise there!
Pffftttt!!!!!!!!!

On to the semi finals! Masato comes out after the Dekkers-Ludwig fight and tells a dissapointed crowd that he broke his ankle vs Zambidis and cannot continue- instead Kazuya, the winner of the first reserve bout, will fight Souwer.
Semi final 1-
Kazuya vs Souwer
Kazuya as always looks energetic and happy, but his cut from the reserve fight comes back to haunt him- the cut is opened even more with a few punches and he is bleeding too much to continue. easy win for Souwer in the first round

http://www.so-net.ne.jp/feg/database/050720img/ph08_7.jpg
Semi final 2-
Buakaw vs Kraus
In their last fight Kraus won a controversial decision, so Buakaw doesnt want to leave this one to chance... from the bell he swarms Kraus and does not let up, punishing kraus with low kicks, BIG knees, and some good punches too. Kraus is overwhelmed and cannot mount anything against the furious thai. Judges have no choice but to give Buakaw the decision- even they cannot make this one look like a draw!

SUPERFIGHT 2
Sato vs Kalakoda
Sato punishes Kalakoda with leg kicks like with all his opponents and uses his reach to keep away from Kalakodas punches... however the judges are watching a different fight and give Kalakoda the decision.

FINAL FIGHT-
Andy Souwer vs Buakaw Por. Puramuk
Souwer has had some easy fights while Buakaw is looking tired from two tough fights. fight goes for 3 rounds and then 2 extension rounds- BIG controversy as they did not show round 2, 3 and 4 on japanese tv so it is impossible to tell who really won. reports from people at the event saying that Buakaw was robbed...
Souwer wins the k-1 max after split decision in round 5!

What is it with a the K-1 judges?!?!?!
AGRRRRHHHH!!!!!!
And what are those ridiculous leggings or tights that Souwer was wearing?!?!
So does this mean that rounds 2,3 and 4 of the Buakaw v.s. Souwer fight will be on the DVD? Prescious little difference at that point though for the decision.
I vote that we stick each judge in the ring with Buakaw for a round a piece.
Maybe that'll sort out there nonsense!!!!!!

I will keep my comments about judging until I see the fight... I would never underestimate Souwer, he has a very impressive record (101-3-1) and has tangled with some of the best and has beaten names like Shane Chapman and Ole Laursen. he wears those trousers because he a is a shootboxer (shootboxing is like muay thai but with throws and standing submissions) and thats what they wear, I agree though they look kinda silly :D
edit: UPDATE
apparently Buakaw wasnt in those final pictures because he is in hospital- after the semi final he had damage to both ankles and after the final he was vomiting etc. I hope he is ok.

OK after watching the fights, heres a bit of a write up-
fight 1
Masato vs Zambidis
Zambo is a lot more cautious than he usually is (Masato has beaten him twice) and both fighters use the first round to feel each other out. leg kicks by masato, some nice body hooks by Zambo. Second round Zambidis starts to really land his body punches and a couple upstairs as well, but towards the end Masato starts finding a home for his straight punches and leg kicks. In the third Masato dominates with some slick punching combos down the middle, and drops Zambidis with a right hand to win an easy judges decision. THis fight pretty much exposed the weaknesses of Zambidis- first of all Masato wasn't scared of Zambidis power which meant he could play a much more evasive game as opposed to cowering in the corner like what happens a lot in Zambo fights. he fired down the middle and Zambidis seems to have not yet discovered the jab and cross, or a good defense for them.
fight 2-
Souwer vs kohi
First round was quite slow, Kohi doing his usual trick of jittering around the ring occasionally throwing a bomb and clinching when he misses. In the second though Souwer turns up the pace and Kohi takes a battering towards the end. the third round is a one sided beatdown as Souwer simply goes to work on Kohi, pumelling him up against the ropes. he also does a very nice (and also quite illegal) judo style throw. easy decision for Souwer, although one judge actually votes for a draw.
fight 3-
Parr vs Kraus
under muay thai rules this would be an easy win for Parr, however this is k-1... I felt it was really close. REALLY close. this fight basically went back and forth all 3 rounds with JWP scoring big with his kicks, and Kraus coming off better with his punches. Parr ALMOST knocks kraus out on the third, but Kraus hangs on to win a judges decision. should have been a draw.
fight 4-
Jadamba vs Buakaw
Because japanese tv sucks all we get is highlights of the second and third round. Jadamba throws some VERY nice looking flying attacks, but none of them land. he also nails Buakaw with a spinning back kick in the gut but it doesnt do anything. from the short airtime it gets its difficult to say how the fight went, but it looked like buakaw simply outworked jadamba for a decision win.
fight 5-
Kazuya vs Souwer
Masato couldnt continue to the semis so instead they get on Kazuya. now I really like Kazuya, i think he is an excellent fighter and is always entertaining to watch. plus he just seems so happy to be there I cant help but smile. he reminds me of a bumblebee. However he should not have been in this fight- he was cut in the reserve bout that he won, and the cut was made worse (surprise) after a couple of punches, and the doctor stopped it in the first round. up until the stoppage though he was really dominating this fight with quick combos and some great acrobatic kicks. I foresee a bright future for Kazuya. tko for Souwer who really did very little in this fight except be overwhelmed by the wee japanese fellow.
fight 6-
Buakaw vs Kraus
Buakaw starts out carefully, getting his range down and probing a few kicks at Kraus. during the second and third though its pretty much all one way traffic apart from some nice punch combos from Kraus. knees, kicks, kicks and kicks come flying from Buakaw. easy decision win but thats the second fight for Buakaw where he has gone the distance against a tough opponent and he looks damn knackered leaving the ring.
fight 7-
Souwer vs Buakaw
First round is fairly placid, both fighters cautious. Souwer lands some nice punches and Buakaw answers with leg kicks and a nice head kick, but Souwer is too tough to be knocked down by it. I would give this round to Buakaw... and then it skips to the last round. it skipped not one, not two, but THREE rounds and goes straight to the second extension round. both fighters are exhausted, throwing sloppy punches and a lot of clinching. right at the end bell buakaw throws three kicks but it obviously isnt enough for the judges and souwer wins split decision. I really wouldnt want to judge that last round since neither fighter did anything- buakaw had fought 11 hard rounds, and Souwer had fought 9 rounds, so was SLIGHTLY more energetic. but he still didnt really throw anything. so really, watching the vid didnt answer whether buakaw was robbed or not, or whether Sato was since they didnt show it (or the Dekkers fight, which i find disgusting)

My god, I've been so busy sending people torrents for this event on k-1fans all last night. Was lucky enough to get a very early version, and must have sent 25+ people torrents on k-1fans and tried to cut the file down into separate files (with no success).
Looks a good event though (Although I don't watch much MAX so I have very little to compare it with :)). If anyone wants a torrent for this event (full thing), drop me a PM :)

The GP was good to watch, as usual. I personally think the Zamidis v Masato fight should have been at least a draw since Zambo was landing far more meaningful hits compared to Masato, but it wasn't a massive problem. The only thing I didn't like was the final; I only saw the first and 5th rounds of it, but in both round Buakaw was opening up several cans of whupass on Andy Souwer and I can't believe he lost.

I'd love to see a complete video of the final, be intresting to see just how badly Souwer gets owned.
