Yesterday in class I learn some forms with taijian (spelling?) breathing.
It was some very cool stuff. Pretty tiring too. The point of 1-5 was to harden your abdominale area, and the same with the Ki area.
We had to push out different directions with tighten muscles, while standing in the horse stance, with controlled breathing.
It was very interesting.
Has any other Hapkidoist done this?

Yes it's called "Dan Jon" Breathing and every HKD practioner does it or should.
We do it every class before warm ups.
The exercise is to learn to stimulate Ki movement through your body, it takes many many years of practice to develope.

I just started learning it and I love it. I just think it is helpful and well just plain cool.
Also I learbed my 6 and 7, which is our falling techniques. I don't have it down yet, but I practice.

Yes. As a matter of fact that's what my class first learned to do. By the way the term for it is DanJun (spelling??) breathing.

To stimulate as in
1. To rouse to activity or heightened action, as by spurring or goading; excite. See Synonyms at provoke.
2. To increase temporarily the activity of (a body organ or part).
3. To excite or invigorate (a person, for example) with a stimulant. ...
ok so
what is it you do with the Ki ? Can you use it up like a tank of gas ? Does it make you stronger or faster or more aware ? Does Ki make you more flexable or your kicks and strikes more accurate ?
I find that the Dan Jon breathing increases and promotes blood circulation and body awareness especialy when you are are actually paying attention to your body and not just the tension .

This is a delicate subject to say the least.
But Ki can make you stonger, faster, increase perception, slow down time or speed up time relations, generate power, death or Ki strikes, etc.
First to learn about Ki and it's uses and effects as taught in Eastern MA traditions you have to subscribe to that way of thinking, if not this conversation will go down hill real fast.
There are also modern explainations of Ki as taught by Ji Han Jae, SM HKD founder which is very believable.
It has to do with proper breathing, oxygen and adreniline to generate superhuman strenght, speed, etc.
Just like the woman who can lift up a car when her baby was stuck underneath and other such feats of unexplainable strenght we hear about as miricles.

very well said . The reason I am asking is not becouse I dont believe in Ki but becouse I believe that Ki is not a mystical magical thing I believe Ki is biochemicaly related . I believe visualation and mediation are tools for one to use to learn their bodies and create new neural pathways that allow them better control . I have been talking to some people ( professors and students ) who are on the cutting edge of biomechanical prosthetics . I have also been talking to quite a few people who live and breath the bio chemistry of the brain and neural networks ( a couple are nurologists the others are a few guys working organic A.I. , rat brains and artificialy grown organic neural nets) .
So I am not trolling I am simply trying to find out what people have been taught and led to believe along with their actual levels of control or their "Ki".
But I will say its not going to give you super human powers... if humans can train to get these results , its within our grasp . And if the techniques work why arent their people from Ji Han Jae, SM HKD schools on T.V. showing humans how to live better lives with less sickness and higher levels of performance ? Why arent they winning UFC and K1 and tough man compititions with their super human powers ?
I am willing to bet that the champs in UFC and Pride and K1 do you a form of Ki and I think its called mental conditioning and physical training . And I dont believe any Art has "the way" to access Ki , not Hapkido nor any CMA has the ONE answer . Becouse within each of us is a unique brain that makes use of a unique nervous system to talk to unique muscles , but the funny thing is that you can change the way your brain works and the way messages are sent through your nervouse system and even the way your muscles respond with thought and practice .

I see your point but I'll refine my meanings a little.
By saying "superhuman" means fulfilling a person "real potential" which to the average joe it may seem superhuman.
People like Ji Han Jae have been deeply reseaching the things you're talking about, self curing illnesses, using the higher part of your mind, coordinating mind and body to the highest level, etc.
Needless to say no one has found the secrets if you will to these questions yet but many are looking testing, trying, etc.
Sin Moo means Higher Mind Martial Skill HKD with all the things were talking about as part of Sin Moo's philosophy.
As far as one of these people entering the UFC, I would say it's last thing on thier minds. Also you must keep in mind Ji Han Jae was a serious street fighter in his younger days and became a a Govt. chief body gaurd in the Korean SS.
I think that kind of background out weights a UFC fighter.
