Technically im not a 1st dan grade or black belt coz we dont actualy have dan grades and belts etc..

We have started to use the terms so it is easier to see a comparison as alot of people know of "1st dan, black belt" etc etc but would have no clue of a level six studen is or 6a, 6b, level 7 etc.

The system is the Warriors system under grand master Abner Pasa.

when you say you just stated to use them that does mean the entire warriors system in cebu also or just in europe??

also what was the grading system before the dans???

thanks

We dont actually use Dan grades.. it is only for other arts or non eskrima people to have a comparison. I dont think it carries over to the Philippines.

our grades go from level 1 to 6 where 6 would be equivelant to 1st Dan grade. then 6a (2nd dan) 6b(3rd dan) level 7(4th dan) etc etc.

The Dan reference is for no other reason that comparison outside of the FMA.

One of my instructors uses the term "1st Grade black belt" rather than "Dan"

Yeah I know I know - don't start :D

"Yes - that's the same Krishna."

He used to come to our club and twizzle the sticks around for us, learn't a lot from him. This was about fifteen years ago mind.
Ah, memories.

I met Him in Birmingham last December. He is very nice person and very good teacher. I can recommend training with Him to everybody. Lots of knowledge, lots of expierience. And still stays in touch with newest "technologies".

I'm from North Wales, is there any FMA around there? I'm not there at the mo but I'm in university in Staffordshire and train under Sifu Dave Carnell. Been there for about 2 and half years! :)

Any help would be great!
