I've just came back from my kickboxing class it was the best fun i've had in ages me and this other boy were basically kicking the crap out of each other so we got told off :D well we were also told off for using too many kicks and so we got tied together and were only allowed to use punches of course we still were beating each other so our instructor had to tell us again but we calmed it down then
GREAT FUN!!!!!!

Well he's not really learning much by having his feet tied up and throwing lame punches :p

To be honest i can see where the instructor is coming from.
Sometimes you get 2 "leggy" fighters that kick loads and drop their hands.
They become that reliant on their legs that hands take second place and quite often you get people whose hands are quite ****.
Your solution to that is focus a lot on boxing skills.
Boxing sparring, Body boxing (for increased workrate and stamina), Jab vs Jab sparring drill, Parrying and countering drills.
Also Coach spar on padwork. Padwork with the "boxing glove and focus mitt in one" helps too.
Or did i not read the post properly?
Glad you guys had fun mate

Yeh it gave me time to work on boxing skills without worrying about kicks or kicking which doesn't normally happen due to me and my partners

We were tied by the waist and me and my partner don't have lame punches we just got too into it and so began throwing punches with abit too much power
that its fun...what more need you know?
Ah... SilatPupil someone who agrees with me.... DAMN thats scary!!

Just do non kicking sparring (boxing)?

How were you tied by the waist? How does that stop you kicking? Sorry, I'm a little conf00zed :p I assumed you were tied at the legs to stop kicking. If this were the case, the punches would in fact be lame.
Sorry if I've missed something here. I think I clearly have :p

it doesnt make u unable to kick your just not supposed to, the drills supposed to work on hand, head and a little body movement. we did this at MT gym the other day n man it was AWESOME! no kicks but were allowed, but clinch work was ok. ur tied based on your arms length when the shorter person is in punching range then thats the distance you work with. but mostly u get paird up evenly. tell your teachers about this! its mad fun!!

To answer Norms question we both wore belts and the belts were tied by another belt
and as Bruce said it basically is non-kick sparring though we stayed away from the clinch for most of the time (basically because I kicked his a$$ in the clinch and I wanted to work my boxing skills :D )
