Some of you probably already know how to do this, but i just found out how to do it, and thought I'd share :)

Get an MA icon on the Windows XP welcome screen

Click Start Menu, Settings, Control Panel, then click user accounts
Click the icon with your login name on it
On the menu that says "What Do You Want To Change About Your Account", click "Change My Picture"
Scroll down the menu and you should see a martial arts icon.
Select it, and click change picture. It should take you back to the screen and the icon will be there

Fortunately for me .... I like 'change' as long as it doesn't screw me up.
Unfortunately the transfer was rather incomplete.
But as far as the OS goes .... its fast and the look is cheerful.... and I just love that little puppy that goes searching for all that stuff that never made it on to my new computer from my old.!!:D

Oh you can change that character too!!

Upgrading from Win98 first edithion to XP was a dream. Any of you who've suffered through 98 know what I'm talking about. You think XP is bad, try 98, Our computer used to crash minimum of once an hour. :woo:

Win98 SE Was pretty decent!
ME a bit flaky, but at least MS Still supoprts it.
Win 2K is good and stable.
XP is the best! I get better results with that on my PC.

Apart from 3 unmountable drive volumes, we have had no other issues with XP. The unmountable drive volume is a big issue though. Comes up with a blue screen on booting and the message "Unmountable_Boot_Volume".

I have been to the microshaft website, and as usual they are as useful as a back pocket in a sock. They suggested recovery console, and either fixboot or chkdsk, both of which were tried without any success.

The only other thing they suggested, was replacing the 40 wire IDE cable with a 80 wire UDMA cable. But there is no 80 slot socket on the motherboard, and the hard drive isn't UDMA.

Apparantly, this particular fault from WindowsXP is "behaviour by design".

And people wonder why I hate it...

I used 98 for five years and 95 and 3.1 in school before that. I liked 98 more than XP, but not by much. After abour 3 and a half years, I had to format it every six months to get it going!

I liked 98 the best so far. I recently went to school for basic computer and Windows XP. I think I knew more about it than they did. I changed the XP look to the earlier version and I like it much better. The Home edition of XP is not as good as the business, and that is what they taught in the class.
I only use my computer for MAP and writing stories. I had added a few things to it before I realized at the time that XP had similar things. It used to get stuck all the time now it doesn't.

You don't know the half... One time I deleted half the .dll's on my computer... nothing would run so I had to format it. Then another time I bought a new powerbox because I blew the old one up, and that wouldn't fit, so I cut holes in the chasis with a drill and hacksaw to make it fit. I formatted windows on my mum's PC realised I didn't have the disk to reinstall it anymore too.

I'm not as bad as I sound, honest...
