Hi all,

First of all, great forum i'm learning a lot already from you guys!

My first fight is on 16th July, i have been kickboxing since October. I'm looking forward to it so much, i'm doing a lot of training, roadwork etc (lots of spinning classes as well - not sure how helpful they are but i feel they improve my stamina, strength and speed).

My problem is that i seem to have done something to my right hand, the area around my thumb and my wrist is sore and slightly swollen. I think it may be a sprain or even hairline fracture (i'm going to get an xray tonight/tomorrow). Is this a common injury, and something i can overcome in the next 5 weeks? I REEEEALY want to fight...

i think only a doctor could answer that... if its just a sprain, it should be fine.

Yeah - I'd agree with Ikken here. Good luck if/when you fight BTW. What rules is it etc?

Tell us how it goes mate :)

grrr so i suppose i'm gonna have to just suck it up and go for an x-ray...

There's no 'if' about it, i'm determined to fight, the thumb situation is a minor setback!

i'm doing full contact kickboxing, no low kicks etc- is that American Rules then?

Yeah i'll def let you know how i get on - im planning on knocking her out with a viscious right hook, but of course it's easier said than done isnt it?! :p

Just make sure you don't hit with the thumb ;)
