both my parents are doctors and they told me that most likely all this traditional herbal stuff will have to be proven to be good for the medical purpose it's sold for. I think it's a great idea because i really dont buy into a lot of it plus i think a lot of people go and dont get real proper treatment because they think they can take phonie herbal stuff that doesn't work.

And on the other hand, they are finding out that many of these traditional medicines have basis in scientific fact. That the chemicals inherent in them are the ones we are synthesizing into "drugs" so that the Big Pharmaceutical companies can become bigger....
Aspirin is one of the earliest ones to spring to mind. Original derived from the bark of a tree and dismissed as a herbal cure until it's properties were researched further.
Now, if you are talking about things like burying a bag of your own spit as a cure for warts, I'll agree with you there. But, herbal remedies shouldn't be dismissed outright.

Bingo.

I'm forever baffled that if a chemist with some beakers and a bunson burner makes X, it's okay, it's "good," it's "science," and by golly it cures people. But if a gardener grows a plant that contains X in it's leaves/bark/root, that's not okay, that's not "good," that's not "science," and it will not cure people.

 x infinity, man. That always gets me.
It must be that I'm not smart enough to know things. Or something. See - I don't know! :D

theyre just making sure that anything sold for medicinal purposes actually has medicinal properties. if they are legitimate then theres nothing to worry about just the fake stuff or the stuff that doesnt actually work will be stopped. so people will only be spending money on things that work.
