Any strange pms sent by me to anyone over the last week they were fake! except the one or two to knight_errant I sent today.
It's all fine now...I think... I was being keylogged for a whole week!!!
Just changed my MAP pass too!
And a whole lot of others! Still some to go....

Evil hackers... you can see what PM's you've sent Cain, check the Sent messages folder in your inbox. If you find out who did it, report the gits.
Are you still being keylogged?

Cain: did the "intruder" make any posts under your name? If so I shoudl be able to do some sniffing with their IP address.
What trojan did you have?
If he's still keylogged, he can use netstat -a through the command prompt to get the IP. Your way is easier though :D

If he's still keylogged (i.e. hasn't killed it) he's a fool!
Wait - this is Cain :D

No it's not :D
I checked, the kid did'nt make any posts so far and I suspected he might have sent the pms and deleted the sent messages folder
I am no longer being keylogged, a freind introduced me to spybot search and destroy, installed it, had a whole load of keylogger proggys on my comp, they are cleaned out so far hopefully there's nothing left....
BTW as far as I know the kid's name is sean, he's 12 and he's from USA

Hmmmmmmm........
Sounds like ZA Pro is a must.
What AV software where you running that failed to detect these buggers?
How do you know he's called Sean and is 12?

Actually the whole thing started in an online game called outwar [check link in my sig]
I dunno how he got into my comp but he had keylogged me and stole my account, and put up a message to sell it for a few bucks [amazing considering that some people will actually pay]
I started another one and tried to negotiate with him but failed so far I was being keylogged the whole time!!!
I put up a support question, the mod said it would have to wait for about five pages of hacked accounts and that I haveto wait in line
Another guy responded and mentioned that his account was hacked by the same guy too and he had the info about him ie age 12, name sean, said he might be able to help me by hacking it back. The location I got from the hacker himself
After my second one got hacked too I told the good guy about it and he smelled that I must have been keylogged since a second one got hacked too!
told me to install the proggy I got it, removed the keylogger, meanwhile mod got to me and returned my account back, but my second one is gone, does'nt matter as my mainone is back ;)
Whew! Damn hackers! First time I have been keylogged!
Cain
how did you get trojaned by a 12 year old kid though?
you must have accepted a file off him or something...
Cain

Nope I did'nt, no file was accepted, I try to login and poof it's gone, he puts up a message to sell it, I make another account and contact him and ask him to give it back he asks for money I refuse he reveals -
I got your stuff, you just don't know it
I suspected he might have used a keylogger, check my task manager but nothing suspicious
Thank god I got spybot, I am still curious on how he got into my comp though the answer's obvious -
I had uninstalled zonealarm pro! :(
PS - If I start winning debates and a lot of people congragulate me on how good, funny and rational my posts were, consider my account hacked ;)
Cain
If you weren't running any kind of firewall that offers both in and outbound protection, he could have hacked a port on your pc and got in that way. Or he could have accessed a trojan you already had on your PC, but didn't know about it.
www.grisoft.com has a free antivirus program. Its not as good as Norton, but it works.

Thanx kg, on my way!

No probs Cain :D Watch out for the Script Kiddies next time ;)
There's only 3 possible ways to 'hack' a Windows machine afaik:
1. DOD/DDOS attacks - will just give you the blue screen of death, or restart your PC, etc.
2. Trojan.
3. If you're running a server such as Apache webserver an ftp server, etc., it can be exploited.
I really don't think a 12 year old kid has the intelligence to do the third one.
I've heard that virus scanner is absolute crap and doesn't detect half the viruses..

It's worth a shot :D
Zonealarm pro helped me quite a bit but did'nt exactly give me entire control over the internet, blocked even google.com at times!!! Grrrr!!!! That's the one thing I don't like about it, looks way too wizardy!!!

I use the following....
Sophos Antivirus - the best AV [prog I've seen - updaed live whenever it's needed - at the moment I'm getting updates through every couple of days.
Zone Alarm Pro - excellent and idiot proof - almost
True, AVG isn't the greatest AV program out there, but it is the best one you get for nothing. I like Norton 2003 best so far, but its bugs me sometimes. I wish it had an option to exclude some files, my Visual Basic coursework keeps setting it off, and it won't shut up about it.
Zonealarm is good, but the free version can allow traffic through universal plug and pray on port 5000. The Pro may do as well, I've never used it. Its a Windows setting, not a ZoneAlarm one. Thats the only flaw with it I can see. http://grc.com/unpnp/unpnp.htm
A 12 year old kid could expolit something like Apache or FTP, Script kiddies do it all the time. They use ready made programs, they just point it at an IP they know is running a particular service and let the program do the work for them. No skill or intellegence involved. Theres loads of ways to hack windows, its a rubbish piece of software :D

i use norton anti virus and a few bits and bobs to trace hackers back

Yeah!!! Linux rulez!
Wait! I don't know how to use it!!! It's too slow!!! It's unfreindly!
But yeah the security and stability rockz! But no my ISP doe'snt support it :(
Well...that ends it ;)
Cain
Kyokushin_girl, yeah but does a 12 year old kid have the intelligence to install linux, configure it and use it?
my Visual Basic coursework keeps setting it off, and it won't shut up about it.
Bwahahaha, doesn't that tell you something? :D VB is evil! :)
cain, linux is far from slow.... :)
Cain
26-Jun-2003, 08:18 AM
it is slow, it took waaaay to much time to copy a 100 MB file compared to winxp
BTW, I think a 12 year old has the intelligence to do it, hey we had got in a newspaper a 14 year old kid who's smart enuff to pass the MCSE x'ams ;)
