One of the best illustrated unarmed combat manuals is DUTCH!!!!
It's a 1674 manual by Nicolaes Petter from the States of Holland and West-Friesland.

Clear Instructions to the Excellent Art of Wrestling
Clear instructions to the excellent art of wrestling, teaching how one can defend oneself in all occurrences of violence, and how to counter all grips, pushes, punches. Most useful against troublemakers and those seeking to offend others, or that threaten one with a knife.

I don't have a direct link but it's in Volume 2000 of the Journal of Western Martial Arts.....

Hi Hades...

Forgot to mention that the 18thC Scottish weapon master, MacBain, wrote that the Dutch were experts at knife fighting... His book has an illustration of 2 knife fighters and the following text....

"The Hollanders, who fight with their knives have no legal guard, for they by slipping when their adversary strikes at them, save themselves, and the souplest man often carries the victory in their scandelous way of butchering one the other"
