I believe a few members of our school, Eagle Hapkido, in Toronto, will be attending this year as our teacher, Hwang In-Shik, is the chief master for the World Hapkido Federation.

This is a pretty big commitment for our members due to the distance and expense. Last year, Ricky Sethi, one of our blue belts went and distinguished himself, taking his division, which of course we were very happy to see. Hopefully some of our members will do as well this year.

The rules have changed this year to encourage quicker submissions and decisive groundwork with shorter time limits on the ground. Of course this will make some members happy and others less so as with any rule change due to different members' strengths.

We'll see how it plays out.

To be honest I'm not sure what the restrictions are.

Last year Masters Han Bong Soo, Kim Chong Sung and, I believe, Myung Kwang-Sik were in attendance so it wasn't confined to World Hapkido Association members. One of Master Kim's students won his division.

I do believe that they wish to keep it confined to legitimate Hapkido schools, though, as it is a hapkido tournament and not just a generic grappling tournament.

You should contact them at www.WorldHapkido.com

Hello all,

Can any of you affiliated with this organization please explain why the main web site still lists convicted murderer Choe on its roles as a master?

It is beyond me why they still list him and sell his materials...

Hey Iron Ox,

You can't just throw that out there.

I'm sure everyone wants to here the story. I don't know anything about Choe or a murder conviction.

Please, fill the rest of us in.

Hi HapkidoScott-
This is only the 2nd annual Pro-HKD tourney. It will be held at the Spectrum Club in Thousand Oaks CA again this year. As for the future, only time will tell.
