I think you should ask your instructor Matt, he or she will know the exact right kind you will need. Best to make sure you get the right kind. Good luck with your training and well done on your dedication to your art.

Hi, Matt. What are you looking for in your gloves?
Will you just be punching? In that case boxing gloves may be the best.
Will you be punching and chopping? There's some good gloves for just that
Will you be using your hands fully (throwing, punching, chopping, palm striking, etc.)? Then I would consider what are called Vale Tudo gloves where each individual finger is padded. The once you have in the picture up there look to be a cross between a Vale Tudo glove and a boxing glove, so it gives you a lot of ability with your hands while providing some of the protection of boxing gloves.
Any more questions, feel free to ask away.

Just a comment on Vale Tudo gloves... they are also called MMA gloves because they are mostly used in MMA sports where you have to punch, throw, grapple etc.
I did I quick search on google and there are plenty of sites sell them... I didn't see white ones thought... only black. But hey, just look around

MMA gloves are more suited to light sparring, any harder and your going to be leaving with a headache and a black eye.

You can get gloves that appear to be identical to those over at www.martialartshop.co.uk (http://www.martialartshop.co.uk/martial_art_gloves.htm)
They cost £13 (located towards the bottom of the page), and are called " SPIRIT SPORTS Grapple 'n' Strike / Sparring Gloves ".
