Dateline after development of computer destroying software:

Day 1: New computer software is released and used by US government. Half of the worlds computers are destroyed.

Day 2: 16 year old boddy smith hacks into government mainframe, steals program, distributes in hacker circles on the internet.

Day 3: Global communications shutdown and new stone age as
hackers use program to destroy the remaining computers on earth.

Ain't electronic warfare great?

Makes sense that the guy is a musician himself. Hits him personally, the greedy sod.

It`s a great idea.

Also, anyone who crosses the road when the green man isn`t there should have his legs broken! It`s the only way to show we`re serious

True - and also any male with a girls haicut - say, longer than 4", should have his follicles surgically removed. :D

Bwahahahaha....

This guy's never taped anything off TV before?

How do you put malicous code in a .mp3 file?

Yes, because fat, overweight record companies and their techs are going to be able to defeat a small army of expert hackers on the internet.

Could be quite interesting to watch, shame it would be the end of copyright laws.

I still like how Madonna did it. Try to download anything off her new cd and you get &%^(*&^)&^)!.; Of course why would anyone do that or why would anyone make a copy of anything, like, a page out of a book that has some good info on it. Guess I'll just throw the switch and blow his computer up. :)

yes, I would love to see every hacker in the world pissed off, would be a great show, I might even join them... off course after it was done we would need alot of time to pick up the rubble...

What I think is so odd about all this is that they're getting fired up about this but don't give a bugger about online paedofiles. I guess there's no profit to be made by shutting down paedofile rings.

It always ends the same way, the n00bie computer people will suffer, the l33t geeks will mock and ridicule said fat music execs and copy stuff with ease. It was like the music CD's that make your PC crash, great when your trying to listen to them, however I just had to put it in the DVD drive to copy, muahaha

How about they sell music at a more reasonable price before destroying ppls pc's grrrrhhhhhh

Ps how are they gonna destroy them, using software or actually taking the thing away?

Seeing as a CD costs around a U.S. nickel to produce, and we are charges upwards of fifteen dollars, we should be the ones finding ways to screw them...Oh wait, we have.

A US senator wants to develop new technology which would remotely destroy the computers of people who illegally download music tracks.

HAHAHA i'd love to see him try. No way in hell will he be allowed to destroy pc's. That will do so much damage world-wide. For people who use pc's to goto schools, work, etc.

Adam

Of course he would be allowed to destroy computers, he could tell the congress that mp3 files are used by islamic terrorists to weaken the american way of life. :D The patriot act should then kick in.

They could probably never implemement that technology into machines, it would have to be built into the hardware, which could be taken out.

I've often thought that Jim, if they paid half as much attention to clamping down on child porn, it would probably be non-existent. The RIAA, who aren't even a legal body, can demand the names and addresses of music downloaders from ISP's to prosecute, but the police don't do that for peadophiles. I think there's some serious questions need answering

Answer: The governments are more concerned with money than people. They can't win a campaign with nothing but goodwill, they need dough as well, contributed by corporate sponsors.

Copyright laws are broken everyday in America. Anytime a kid tapes something from the TV or radio, it's copyright infingement. You tape a ball game to watch at a later time, same thing. If they are going to prosecute they are going to have to do everything, not just music. TV shows, somebody copies a home movie from someone else. Where would it end? To copyright something you only have to mark it with the date and a copyright sign and your name. Bunch of friggin morons in Washington. I'm a conservative, but this is ridiculous. Sheesh!

Jazman
21-Jun-2003, 05:53 AM
I really don't think even if they tried they'd be able to disable all computers that broke copyright infringment on music, every cd put out is already out there, they can't do anything to what's already copied and then... we could make tapes!! of course they would have to outlaw tapes... The main root of this of course is cost, 15$ is to much for a cd, and if anyone has used the new apples software which is supposed to be "cheap"(.99$ a track) I dunno but in some cases wouldn't that be more expensive? Polticians just don't realize how much trouble they could get themselves into...

Jim
21-Jun-2003, 11:26 PM
$$ = Law. All you have to do is look at the penalties for armed robbery vs. rape. I have no doubt as to which crime would be more soul destroying but the law sees it differently.

It seems that this may be the beginning of the end for high profits from music making but what the hell! I still have a bit of difficulty with musicians who complain about the amount of tax they have to pay but have no qualms about saying how they lived on the dole for years doing it 'hard' to perfect their art. Maybe downloading songs is illegal, but then again it just may be the start of evening up the scales a bit...

Viva la revolution!

Unfortunately, the Government is doing the exact opposite. They are rewriting and passing laws that allow them, basically, to control people to their own whims. And people don't even realise this, or care if they do.. hows that for having the spirit knocked out of you after decades of brainwashing? I'm frightened to see what the world will be like in 10, 20, and 50 years under the control of rulers like this.

They might as well pain black spots on us and make our new language "cow" because all of us are pretty much just livestock to feed the wallets to these people who maintain control through this illusion of an inpenetrable barrier of authority and law.
