What ranges of fighting does your style/club train in to a competant level.

Do you think your training is adequate / for your style / your game plan / self defence ?

Least important is the weapons but to me it still has a fair amount of years training devoted to it.

striking is the ultimate weapon for conflicts. intercepting strikes.

Whoo, I'm glad I can click all of them - and not just for my Ninjutsu club, my Hapkido one does all of them too... whoo!

Striking isn't the 'ultimate weapon' - nothing is an 'ultimate weapon'. Striking is a weapon in an arsenal of weapons. The ultimate weapon is a sub machine gun :)

No it's not. Try using it underwater :D

Damn forgot to put underwater sub-machine guns on the poll, knew there was something I missed! :D

I surprised that nearly everyone does standing and groundfighting, thought vast majority didn't mmmmmmmm ;)

Everything all at once :)

Weapons becomes more thought than actual application of weapons.

The rest is done with gloves and mouth guard :)
Worst feeling ever - getting hit in the head while not being able to move your hands.

Groundfighting. We could use more actual hands on training in that. For myself, I know my skills are adequate. No great, but enough to get me one over the average Joe, but I doubt anyone else I train with (except the instructors) have any ground fighting skills at all. Could be wrong, but I doubt it. Especially since I have trained with most of them for a few years.

My friends spar with me and they do various arts, most of them Kendo, Aikido and Jujitsu. And I do quite a few arts so I think I am well rounded in everything, my worst feild would have to be groundfighting because none of my arts cover it but I still work on it with my friends.

Then maybe the poll should have been which of these elements do you spar with regularly?

Good point AG, I put train to a good standard, could be taken many way though as people often take it as the way they train...

In my school we train and spar in all the categories, however for weapons sparring, we keep out the more unconventional weapons out and use the ones that are more likely to be found on the street, or that can be easily manufactured in an instance (like a sock with a rock in it) of course we didn't use the rock for sparring.

Everyone considers their way to be "to a good standard" it doesn't really say much.

Someone could do nothing but kata (or forms for Andy :D ) and consider that striking and grappling to a good standard as kata contain those elements. I've seen many claim that some kata contain ground, although you stand for the whole kata.

Patterns alone is not what I would consider to a good standard for anything, there needs to be sparring, with as few restrictions as can be done safely.

Okaaay. I bet their kicking Kata doesn't involve any kicks either LOL!
