I've been looking into buying sword sometime in the near future, but I wanted something different than the standard ones on the WKSA's website. I found a website for a company in Seoul. They have a nice selection of traditional korean swords. If/when you're ready to purchase your sword for Kuk Sool check this place out. Also, if any of you have links to other places for traditional Korean swords post them. Thanks.

I am on another message board (that shall remain nameless, in reverence of the Great Green Administrator), dedicated soley to Korean sword arts. One board member purchased a sword from this site, and was very disappointed with it.

If you are going to spend that kind of money on a sword, I srtongly recommend that you purchase from a dealer known by your instructor. Let your instructor know what you are planning to buy, and make recommendations. Buy from someone who has sold swords to people yuo know, and who can vouch for the quality, service, and if necessary, the returns policy.

Just my two-cents, but it could save you $1600.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm only looking ot buy a practice sword right now. I'm not as concerned about that. If I was getting a cutting sword I would definitly buy from somewhere I can see the sword first. The descriptions of their practice swords seem pretty solid. Do you know anyone who bought a practice sword from them or only cutting swords? Thanks again.

I have had good luck with my practice sword from KSW. However, I know of a guy, KSW practioner, who custom makes practice swords on the west coast. Two students at my school have purchased their's from him and I can say they are of great quality. However, they are only a couple of years old, so I cannot speak of their lifetime. It looks promising though. I have not spoke to him in a couple of years so I am getting the information for you and will send it to you as a PM once I hear back. I bet he is still making them and if I remember correctly they run around $400.00. At least gives you an option to look into.

We need more practice.

Theres a million places to buy weapons. Don't just buy them from your association because some instructor tells you thats where you need to get them from.

For 3,000 dollars my uncle can make you a sword i will talk to him send me what style you want and he'll make it.
he specializes in traditional korean swords not the japaneese influenced ones created after the korean japanese war. he practices the nara jung style of swordmaking and is a master in hae dong geom do, Ssang Geom Moo sool( i think thats how you spell it) Kichun and Buhl mool do

Don't know if you've bought your sword yet but www.jingum.com sell some pretty decent stuff.

I think most of their Korean swords are live blades but I emailed them and they said they could build me a custom made practice sword almost identical to the live ones for £500 - £1000 (not sure of the dollar equivilant)

Do you have any contact information for your uncle . . . a email address or website with some photos of his work. I am very interested in purchasing a real good sword!
