Pune, June 12: SHUBHANGI Dey, three-and-a-half years in age, has been awarded a 1 Dan Black Belt by the Maharashtra Taekwondo Association at the Black Belt gradation exam, held at Agrik Shikshan Prasarak Mandal auditorium in Dombivli (E), Mumbai, recently.

In the same exam, five-year-old Rajat Rajore received a 2 Dan Black Belt as did six-year-old Rituraj Bhetkari. All three are trainees of the city-based Horangee Taekwondo Academy.

I saw that article too Yoda. This is a disgrace to anyone who ever had to work their asses off to achieve their shodan and is DEFINITELY not good PR for TKD, which already has a reputation for McDojoness. Shame on them! :(

thats so stupid i mean they could only have had the ability to walk for 2 years also they would lack the cognitive ability to understand what they are doing

I wonder how they do at sparring other black belts. Hand and eye coordination is just beginning to set in at that age. So throw a punch and hit the kid who then goes sailing across the room.. I wonder if that is how drawf tossing got started.ummmmmmmmmm

I bet these are just some spoilt rich kids who wanted to be like brue lee or someone, so their parents took them to a McDojo and bought them a Dan grade to stop them crying about it.

I'd love to see someone who knows what they're doing waltz into that club, yell something like 'McDojo!' and proceed to wipe the floor with the whole class single-handedly, ala Jet Li in that movie where he cleans up an Aikido club. Preferably me (although I won't claim to know what I'm doing)...

Ok, fantasy over.. :p

Yeah, I will be checking it out in a few days, maybe they will accept my poor self ;)

But I don't think the x'am fees will be a lot, prices are low here, I pay 2$ a month as fees, for black belt it's a 100$ the rest go maximum at 10$

They are looking for publicity more than money, knowing the people in here no one would spend more than 5$ a month for a martial arts class

Odds are it is just for Kata and forms only.

yeah, probably I can't imagine a 3.5 year old kid doing 50 push ups and sparring with a tight determination to whack the cr4p outta his opponent ;)

you havn't met 'ma boy' (age 2) then.

Favourite sport - hitting things (people preferably) with his 12 foot long stick.

Not sure about the 50 pressups though - he would probably get bored unless he was doing them on 1 finger.
